MURINET • Multidisciplinary Research Network on Health and Disability - Marie Curie Research Training Network, 6th European Framework Programme • Aim: to explore health, disability and the biopsychosocial model (base of the WHO's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) • Mainstreaming, inclusion and full participation of people with disabilities, and a notion of universality of disability

  3. Four main areas, (thirteen organisations) in various countries (Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands), which should actively network and share expertise, projects, concerns, and outcomes • The four areas are: 1 Clinical and Rehabilitative 2 Child health, psychology and education 3 Health and disability information for policy 4 Ethics and Human Rights

Area 4: Ethics and Human Rights National Council of Disability - ITALY • Umbrella organisation: 36 National Italian associations • Member of the European Disability Forum (EDF) • 25 National Councils • 80 Organisation of people with disabilities and families Autonomy,participation, independence, visibility, rights based approach to disability

Stage 1 • Bibliographic research • Organisation of database of International, European and National documents • CoE, UN, EADSNE, OHCHR , ILO, EC, … • Leonard Cheshire Foundation, Resource, Canadian Human Rights Commission, Disability Rights Commission (UK),Handicap International, Mental Health Europe, EDF, … (Present: 258 documents) • University of Padua - Human Rights Centre Collect/analyse good practices & key concepts

  6. Stage 2 • Development of framework and tool to assess HR in legislation • Based on UN Convention on Rights PwD • Able to capture the policies’: • approach to disability • respect towards HR principles • respect for disability key principles like inclusion, participation and mainstreaming in the various areas of life (education, health, insurance, transport, employment, leisure, etc…)

  9. Analyse Human Rights aspects in ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health)

What we would also like to do… • Develop “core sets” based on social role of person • to be used by organisations of people with disabilities aiming to collect data about difficulties in A&P (d) and barriers and facilitators (e) • then promote changes in environment to increase participation • Design tool to collect data about the • availability, • accessibility (physic, economic, information), • affordability (money, time, energy), • accommodation, of/in opportunities • appropriateness, for PwD • acceptability, • awareness,
