  4. Columbus2020 Columbus2020 taking regional role in JobsOhio plan Business First Date: Wednesday, August 17, 2011, 8:08am EDT Columbus2020 will help the new JobsOhio organization find promising leads for jobs-creating companies. Several regional development organizations around the state, including the year-old Columbus2020 group, will grow under a new plan to privatize Ohio's economic development efforts, Columbus Business First reports. Columbus2020, backed in part by the Columbus Partnership, is one of six organizations in Ohio that will take a piece of $24 million over two years to assemble initial development deals and then funnel those to the new private nonprofit JobsOhio organization. Ohio officials made the announcement Tuesday at Sinclair Community College in Dayton during a public rollout of the state's new economic development strategy. Under an economic development contract with the state, JobsOhio will work with existing companies to expand or those looking to relocate to Ohio by providing some incentives. It also will assist those companies to quickly prepare applications for incentives that need to be approved by the state.
