  1. Senior English 10/22/12 • Talk to a character in Brave New World. Ask the character a question, scold them, advise them, yell at them, or beg them to change… whatever. Pretend the character is someone who may listen to you. • What did the mountain climber name his son? • Corvine – crow like; pertaining to a crow. Goals - Try to find a big idea to think about while reading. Homework – Try to get through chapter 7 or more today. Don’t forget the Vocab. Quiz 9 Friday.

  2. Senior English 10/23/12 • Have you been programmed? What would be some of the things us adults would like to program into you? Do you hold them as values? • Why were the elephants thrown out of the swimming pool? • Dystopia – the opposite of utopia. Goals – Read silently. Write at least five comments or questions about what you are reading. Homework – Read Chapter 8 or more.

Do you need to think about things you’ve done? • What do you get when you cross a cat and a canary? • Monoglot – a person who speaks only one language. The opposite of a polyglot Goals – Read quietly contemplate whether or not we need to think/reflect to know ourselves or should we try not to think. Homework – Read chapter 9 or more.

Why or why not? • What do you get when you cross a cat and a canary? • Monoglot – a person who speaks only one language. The opposite of a polyglot Goals – Discuss quotes and themes from the book in large group. Continue to search for quotes that support that theme in the second part of the book. Homework – Read chapter 10 or more. Quiz BNW ch 7-10 tomorrow as well as vocab. 9.

  5. Senior English 10/26/12 • Five minutes to prepare for your vocabulary quiz. • Why did the stoplight turn red? • Illth – the opposite of wealth. Goals – Complete week 9 vocabulary study. Take the BNW Ch. 7-10 quiz. Homework – Try to “catch up.” try to catch up. BNW quiz Ch. 11-13 Wednesday.
