If the Yellowstone supervolcano erupted... • Volcanologists suggest: • Magma would be thrown 50km into the atmosphere • (Montserrat about 10km). • All life within 1000km would be killed from ash, lava and the force • (Montserrat about 5km). • Lava would pour out cover all of the USA in 12cm of lava. • The amount of ash on the atmosphere would reduce solar radiation. • Global temperatures would drop significantly for several years. • Crops would die. • People would starve. • Economies would collapse • Society would not survive.
