AttendancePolicy • 3 LATES= 1 UNEXCUSED ABSENCE • 24 ABSENCES = LOSS OF CREDIT FOR THE COURSE • Arrive to class on time and begin our daily do now or weekly sketchbook assignment • Passes are for using the restroom only. One person is allowed out at a time, you may not leave during lessons, demos or critiques. You will be considered absent if you leave the room for an extended period of time. • It is YOUR responsibility to make up missed work if you are absent. • Extra help is available.

Behavior Policy • Chain of Command: • Verbal Warning • Phone call home • Detention • Department meeting with Art Chairperson • Referral/Assistant Principal Before behavior becomes an issue, be proactive. Be attentive to your classmates. See me if you have any issues or concerns about the course, your classmates, life, etc. Everyone has the right to a great class experience!!

  7. Project Requirements If it’s not complete on a due date, it’s 5 points off every day it’s late. After 5 school days, it’s ZERO project grade. • HW/Sketchbook Requirements If it’s not turned in complete on the day it’s due, it’s a ZERO.

  10. Be Prepared Everyday! ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY SHOW UP WITHOUT A PENCIL

  11. NO YOU CAN’T KEEP YOUR BAGS AND BOOKS ON THE TABLE. • Keep books and bags off the desk, and out of the aisle on the floor. IT’S ART CLASS YOU NEED TO CLEAR YOUR VISUAL SPACE.

  12. Participate in class and put in your best effort! DOES SO WELL IN ART CLASS TEACHER CALLS HOME AND SAYS I’M AWESOME

  13. Don’t use electronic devices! Cell Phone Policy: 1st time using it in class: Teacher will take it away, give it to assistant principal. You get a phone call home, pick it up at the end of the day 2nd time: Phone gets sent to office for your parents to pick it up after school + 3 detentions Any time after that: Phone gets sent to office, parents pick it up, you get in-school suspension. Affects permanent record.

  14. MUSIC Policy • You are not allowed to play music from your phone or other device during class. • Listening to music from your personal device with headphones may be allowed while working in an open studio setting- but this is a class earned privilege. • No headphones during demos, lessons, class discussions or critiques.   15. Be attentive and respectful! Oh, you’d like respect? Please, continue being disrespectful.

  16. Leave food/drinks in the front of the room. Please don’t eat near artwork.

  17. Be open to meeting new people and working with others in class. • Get to know your classmates! It’s a great way to show your respect for others.

  18. Raise your hand when you’d like to share something

  19. Respect your supplies and the art room’s supplies! • Don’t take/touch something without asking permission! Don’t invade others personal spaces. • Use all supplies properly, clean supplies, and put supplies back where you find them!

  20. PRESSES ONE BUTTON ON PRINTER MENUS ARE STUCK IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE. • Don’t touch objects in the room that do not belong to you

  21. WANT AN EASY TIP FOR STAYING OUT OF DETENTION? USE MATURE AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IN CLASS

  22. Don’t write on school property. If you feel like drawing put it on paper. NOT SURE IF TAKING NOTES IN BINDER OR DOODLING ON THE DESK THE WHOLE TIME

  23. If you want to leave on time, help clean up the room...even if it wasn’t your mess. IT’S 5 MINUTES UNTIL END OF CLASS CLEAN UP ALL THE MESS!

  24. WANNA BE DISTRACTING IN CLASS? KEEP GETTING OUT OF YOUR SEAT • Stay in your seat unless told otherwise! Walking around can be dangerous and distracting!

  25. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ALREADY THREW IT OUT? • Don’t EVER throw away an artwork without Ms. Livoti’s approval!

  26. IF MY EXPERIENCE IN THIS CLASS IS DEPENDENT UPON MY ATTITUDE • The experience you have in this room is dependent upon your attitude. THEN IF I HAVE SUPER AMAZING ATTITUDE, CLASS WILL BE SUPER AMAZINH?

Class Supplies Hard bound sketchbook, 5 ½ x 8 in- will be used for HW sketches Ticonderoga pencils, box of 12 (pre sharpened) Colored Pencils (set of 12 or 24) Glue Stick (large- .77 oz) 2 Black sharpies- fine point 2 Black sharpies- ultra fine Pencil Sharpener 2 Vinyl erasers (white- not pink!) Notesketch pad 8 ½x 11 in (will be used in class daily for notes, do nows, visual sketching and will be graded each marking period) * All items are available in a pre-packaged kit at a discounted price of $27.15 (includes tax) through Blick art supply store. Blick will be selling kits in school Sept. 5th and 10th!

  28. Commit to your art training! Make art part of your day, every day and stick to it! Walking through the door of the art room is your first step. • Don’t get scared or worried about making art, or what it will look like. • Make artwork for the practice! Enjoy the practice, not the result. • Stay calm and work hard at each project! Don’t let yourself get frustrated. • Every day will be different, do what you can each day. • Give your teacher and classmates your personal best so they may achieve theirs. Motivate each other to do better! • Don’t cheat at art by letting someone do something for you. You have to develop your own skill and style! • Some other things to think about......
