  4. Geology • The study of anything that has to do with the solid part of the Earth. • Volcanoes, earthquakes, rocks, fossils, etc. • Scientist is called a geologist.

  5. Oceanography • Study of the non-living aspects of the Earth’s oceans. • Waves, currents, ocean floor, etc. • Scientist is called an oceanographer.

  6. Meteorology • Study of the atmosphere and the weather it includes. • Meteorologist.

  7. Astronomy/Cosmology • Study of physical objects in space. • Study stars, asteroids, planets, etc. • Astronomer.

  8. Ecology • Study of human impact on the environment. • One of the important issues we study is how the production of energy for human use impacts the Earth.
