    2. Maria Agnesi 1718 – 1799 mathematician, philanthropist, philosopher Wrote the first mathematics text book that is still in use First woman appointed as a professor of mathematics at a university

    3. Elizabeth Blackwell 1821 - 1910 Born in England but moved to the States when she was 11. She was the first woman to graduate from medical school in America and was a pioneer in women’s medical education. As she developed her practice, she also wrote lectures on health, which she published in 1852 as The Laws of Life; with Special Reference to the Physical Education of Girls. In 1875, Elizabeth Blackwell was appointed professor of gynaecology at the London School of Medicine for Children, which was founded by Elizabeth Garrett Anderson. She remained there until 1907.
