  3. Chapter 1 positions • The positions of Basketball are PG, SG, PF, SF, C • PG=Point Guard, SG=Shooting Guard, PF=Power Forward, SF=Small Forward, C=Center • 3

  4. GUARDS • Point Guards usually are fairly good at Three Pointers and really good at Layups. • Shooting Guards are usually just about as good at Three Pointers as Point Guards but a little bit worse at Layups and also a little better at Defense. • 4

  5. FORWARDS • Small Forwards are usually not very good at Shooting but very good at Defense and Rebounding. • Power Forwards are usually a little better at Layups than Small Forwards but a little worse at Defense. • 5

  6. CENTER • Centers are usually the best at Defense and Rebounding but the worse at shooting. • 6

  8. CHAPTER 3 HOW TO PLAY • In Basketball there are 2 types of shots the 3 pointer, and the 2 pointer. You can get a 3 pointer by shooting behind the farthest arc. • 8

  9. You can get a 2 pointer by making a Layup or shooting in front of the farthest arc. Another way to get a 3 pointer is to make a 2 pointer and get fouled and then make the free throw. • 9

  10. In Basketball you can only move if you’re dribbling, dribbling is when you move with the ball but you’re bouncing it as you move. • 10

  11. INBOUNDING • There are certain players who take inbounds…Usually the Center takes the inbounds but it sometimes can be the Power Forwards and the Small Forwards. • 11

  12. FOULS • Here are some of the fouls/violations you can get. • A foul traveling if you don’t dribble. You also can get charging if you come running at the defender and knock him down when he’s not moving. • You also can get a back court violation if you go across the half line and then dribble back. • 12

  13. You also can get a blocking foul if you are moving and the attacker comes and knocks you down. • You can also get a shooting foul if you make contact with the shooter. • 13

  15. UNIFORMS • In Basketball there are certain things you wear…Some players wear their no sleeve shirt, Basketball shorts, Basketball shoes, and low socks. • 15

  17. TECHNIQUES • In Basketball there are certain types of ways to dribble, and pass. The first way to dribble is to just dribble with one hand. The second way to dribble is to dribble through your legs. The third way to dribble is to switch hands while dribbling. The forth way to dribble is to dribble behind your back. • 17

  18. The first way to pass is to do a bounce pass. The second way to pass is to do a chest pass. • 18

  19. PLAYER FAVORITES • Most Point Guards either like to dunk or to Shoot 2 pointers. • 19

  20. Most Shooting Guards like to either shoot 3 pointers or to do Layups. • 20

  26. HOW TO MAKE A GOOD SHOT • Make sure you put enough leg into it and let it go. • 26

  27. HOW TO DRIBBLE WITHOUT GETTING IT STOLEN • Make it so one arm is • out protecting the ball. • 27
