  3. Muhammad • Founder of Islam. He spread Islam’s teachings to the people of Arabia. His teachings make up the Qur’an (holy book of Islam). • According to Islamic belief images of Muhammad are never shown. Out of respect for this belief we will never draw an image of Muhammad

  4. Islam • A religion based on the messages Muhammad is believed to have received from God. • The central teaching of Islam is: “There is no god but God and Muhammad is his prophet”

  5. Muslim • A follower of Islam

  6. Allah • The Arabic word for God. Muslims worship one God. It is the same God worshipped by Jews and Christians.

  7. Qur’an • The holy book of Islam

  8. Mosque • Muslim place of worship

  9. Pilgrimage • A journey to a sacred place. Muslims journey to Mecca to visit the Kaaba... a sacred shrine.
