  1. The Importance of academic counseling

  2. “Creating Success, One Student at a Time” • The mission of Student Support Services and the Center for Student Success (CSS) is to provide a centralized “one-stop-shop” location where students can receive academic advisement and counseling services via an academic advisor, faculty /staff mentor or counselor.

  3. Students can receive assistance in their progression toward their education and career goals and early counseling intervention for problem resolution.  The main priority of the CSS center is to advocate for students on campus and to assist, motivate and empower students for self-development and self-actualization.  The CSS Center was created based on an intentional institutional intervention strategy to promote student success and retention.

  4. The primary goals of CSS Center are as follows: • To reinforce throughout the College the importance of academic advisement and counseling services; • To improve the consistency of information students receive, especially when academic policies change; • To permit students to obtain easier access to existing department information; • To provide a central location where individuals may receive training on how to properly advise students; and • To act as a key resource in student success and retention
