  2. History • ADHE Established the Goals and Process for Review of Existing Programs in 1988 • In 1998 ADHE Established the Process of Institutional Review of Academic Programs • The ADHE Process was last revised in 2002

U of A Program Review Process is described in Academic Policy 1620.10 Only degree programs that are not accredited by agencies or organizations that are recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation are subject to review. • Semester Prior to Site Visit – Department/Program prepares a self-study document that follows the Report Guidelines and Framework provided in Academic Policy 1620.10.

  4. Director of Program Assessment along with external reviewers and an on-campus member of the Program Review Committee constitute the site visit team. • Team conducts site visit and reports back to the Director of Program Assessment who compiles an Executive Report of Strengths and Concerns. • The Executive Report plus each individual reviewer’s report are provided to each Program, Dean and Provost.

  5. A Strategies for Improvement/Maintenance Document that addresses concerns is developed by each program and reviewed by the Department, Dean and Provost. • The Strategies for Improvement/Maintenance Document becomes part of the annual departmental review process.

  6. Academic Policy Series 1620.11 provides the Program and Department Review Schedule for the next 10 years. Using this process, fourteen departments/programs were reviewed in 2005-06 and eight departments/programs were reviewed in 2006-07.
