  1. Collective Mantra Chanting Presentation by AWGP (All World Gayatri Pariwar) www.awgp.org

  2. CosmicPower of Sound : ShabdShakti • Origin of Universe • Big Bang Theory • Vedic affirmation of the eternal omnipresent Omkar • Medical field • Infrasound • Ultrasound • Sonography • EEG • Echocardiograms • NMR-MRI • Emotions (Effect of Music) • Kindle a lamp, invite clouds & rains in dry sky • Cure complicated psychiatric & psychosomatic disorders • Voice • Sharpens one’s personal & social life via communication • Sympathetic words offer instant healing • Discouraging words frustrate & discourage • Power of speech makes/shakes destiny of societies/nations

  3. Hidden Powers of Mantra • Power of Mantra • The power of chant of a mantra is purely spiritual in nature. • It is a kind of conscious energy that influences body, mind & inner self (attitude) • Generates specific vibrations in the subliminal environment & cosmic domains of consciousness • Importance of sonic pattern • Specific compilation of syllables and sonic patter of a mantra are of crucial importance. • The syllables used in a mantra are like coded representation of sonic energy latently stored in it. • Enunciation or chanting specific combination of specific syllables in specific order generates specific quanta of energy that could be of manifold higher order than nuclear energy Do you know ?? - Mantras were invented by the rishis – the scientists of ShabdaBrahm-Nada Brahm- as the coded formulae and subtle ‘sonic devices’ to generate and use specific effects of the sublime power of Shabda.)

  4. Hidden Powers of Mantra • Dual Effects • Jap of a mantra instantaneously generates dual effects – one in inner world and other in external • Fire burns whatever is inside it and heats up the fireplace and its surrounding area. Similarly, continuous chanting of a mantra not only titillates specific extrasensory energy centers, nerve bundles and ganglions inside chanter’s body but also generates specific vibrations in the surrounding space that spreads in all directions and influences the subtle environment and other conscious beings too • Subtle Vs. Gross • The power of sublimated/subtle elements is always enormous as compared to that of gross. Power of steam (subtle) is far more than water or ice (gross). Then what to say about sublime powers of supreme energy of Shabda. • This is what make the mantras so unique and endowed with infinite power to vibrate and transmute the spiritual as well as physical realms of life.

  5. Hidden Powers of Mantra • Cyclic motion • As verified in scientific labs, continuous cyclic motion produces enormous power. • By resonance, sound produced by march of a troop can even break a bridge. Similarly, The energy generated by chanting of mantra in a specific rhythm at constant amplitude is also quite intense. This conjugated with the impulsive force of focused consciousness and vital energy stimulates the otherwise latent extrasensory hormonal glands and power-nuclei in the body • Rate of Progress • The attainment of supernormal bequests depends on the mental and spiritual makeup of the chanter and his engrossment in disciplined mode of chanting. • For ex., a radio catches only those frequencies for which it is tuned. The continuity & quality of reception would correspond to unperturbed linkage & sensitivity & perfection of internal components

  6. Why Chant ? How to Chant ? • Purpose • As body & clothes get clean after rubbing with soap. Similarly, chanting is the process of cleansing /refining our inner self/attitude. • To awaken hidden divinity within and inculcate divine virtues by simultaneously meditating over them • 4 stages • Repetition • Retention • Recall • Recognition (to put into practice & change one’s lifestyle • Transformation of Ego • The chanter while chanting any mantra should meditate upon the meaning of the mantra and believe that divine qualities are being kindled within him and he should try to bring a transformation in his lifestyle by believing that he is not an ordinary soul and there is no room for any undesirability within him.

  7. Why Chant ? How to Chant ? • Not just bead rotation • The process of chanting should not be only limited to just bead rotation and mechanical chanting. • To reap full and real benefits of chanting, meditation is a very important aspect which is generally ignored by chanters who just worry about finishing a fixed number of rounds of bead. • Mechanical chanting although will yield results of its own but those are insignificant as compared to chanting with correct mindset.

  8. Why Gayatri Mantra ? • King of Mantras • This eternal mantra is said to be the origin of the Vedas. • The seers, spiritual saints and scholars of all ages affirm the divine preeminence of this mantra. • Unique composition • It has remarkable configuration of 24 syllables (carriers of SabdaSakti) • Unique pattern of sublime currents of spiritual force which is derived from the deeper science of Sabdabrahm – Naadbrahm • Spiritual aspects • Enables the chanter to reduce/ remove the effects of past karmas (deeds) • Chanter develops a divine ego which enables him to remove the undesirability which have rooted themselves deep into the unconscious mind over a period of many births

  9. Why Gayatri Mantra ? • Scientific aspects • Unperturbed enunciation of this mantra for a continuous stretch of time would also generate powerful currents that could induce divine effects by vibrating all subtle glands, ganglions, nerve bundles, neuronal passages and extrasensory energy centers in the physical, subtle and astral bodies. • Scientific experiments reveal that chanting of Gayatri Mantra stimulates emission of supernormal brain impulses that generate specific aura around the chanter • The sound waves that are created, when Gayatri Mantra is said, is of the shape of a ring. It rises up with great speed, through the medium of ether and goes towards Sun, and after touching the surface of the Sun, it returns back along with the powers of Sun, like Heat, Light, electrical and other powers which are very subtle. Thus the Mantra combined with all the powers of the Sun re-enters the subtle body of the ‘Practicer’. The stronger the will-power and emotion attached with the Mantra, the Stronger is the attraction of these powers of the Sun. If the Mantra is said with the full concentartion of Mind, it can make impossible, possible. *

  10. Why Gayatri Mantra ? • Views • Theosophist scholar Mr. Leadveater attributes distinctive significance to the collective chanting of Gayatri Mantra in his book “Man- Visible, Invisible” . The sonic waves along with the sublime currents of Sabdsakti produced by the chanting of the mantra propagate upwards in a spiral shape and expand up to the heart of Sun (the deity of Gayatri Mantra). The echo of these is reflected back and bestows the supernatural energy and flow of prana and divine brilliance of Sun on the body, mind and inner self of the chanter. • Arthur Koestler, a renowned thinker, philosopher in an interview to “Blitz” magazine said commenting on the nuclear war “The great Gayatri Mantra is more powerful than thousands of atom bombs. If all of India collectively chants this mantra, the power aroused thereby would annul all hazards of nuclear warfare and protect the globe…”.

  11. Individual Vs Collective Effort • Importance of United efforts • United efforts bear unique importance. • Tiny tips of dry grass knitted together form a strong rope • Sunrays are bearable when spread on earth’s surface; when focused together at a point via convex lens, they kindle fire instantaneously • Gathering a group of wickers makes a broom • 1+1 = 11 • Power of collective endeavors is far more significant in the fields of consciousness and spirituality. • Grouping of inert object with another gives two objects whereas join venture of two active, talented persons may work like that of 1+1=11 or even more • Enthusiasm & joy generated by combined faith of pilgrims is truly remarkable. • Organized move of larger congregation of people of compatible ideologies motivated for a common aim creates intense ambience of greater influence

  12. Significance of Collective Prayer • Prayer • Psychologically, prayer is said to inculcate inducing instructions that gradually invigorate the potentials of mind. • Intensity & impact of these inner ‘inscriptions’ of prayer rise in proportion with the piety and depth of the devotee’s intrinsic faith. • These have reach in the hidden folds of mind and thus are effective in eradication of psychiatric complications, mental weakness, tension, worries, illusions etc. • Unity in prayer • Unity, conjugation and superposition always multiply and magnify compatible effects. Same holds true for collective prayer. • ‘Namaj’ of Mohammedans, ‘Mass Prayer’ of Christians, ‘Retreat’ practices of army men all signify this fact • Emergency situations • Groups of people, societies, nations as whole also take shelter of collective prayer at times of emergency or calamitous adversities. • Bells of temples, churches, mosques, gurudwaras and all other shrines ring with mass participation in prayers in war times. • This is the last asylum of hope for mankind in critical moments of helplessness.

  13. Examples of Collective Spiritual Endeavors • Shri Ram • Role of monkeys & beers in battle of Shri Ram and Ravan illustrates necessity and importance of mass movement at grass root. • Ram and Lakshman were divine incarnations; drying up a sea and ruining the reign of Ravana was no difficulty for them but this could not have served the real purpose of arousing the collective power of the masses that was the need of that era. • Shri Krishna • Lord Krishna- manifestation of the Almighty in human form, had liberated the world from cruel autocracy of Kansa, Jarasandha and Shishupal at very young age. • He could have ruined the perverted Kauravas and their gigantic army in few moments but he preciously strove for the unity of the armed forces of the distributed states in historic war of Mahabharata. • In his childhood too, he encouraged collective participation of masses of Gokul for lifting up the Govardhan hill despite being able to do so in his little finger

  14. Examples of Collective Spiritual Endeavors • Buddha • Buddha changed the trends of the medieval era inspiring the collective arousal of the masses. His preaching of “BuddhamSaranamGacchami, DhammamSaranamGacchami, SanghamSaranamGacchami” indeed vibrated awakened souls and led to the formation of an army of “BauddhaSanyasis” which was dedicated to the noble aims of “Dhammam”. The collective and constructive efforts of these disciples spread his message of peace and kindness all over the globe. • Mahatma Gandhi • The world recognized the astonishing force of the non violent mass-movement educed by Mahatma Gandhi for the independence of India. • The united strength of people motivated for a common patriotic goal had shaken and eventually ousted the mighty British Empire. • Maha-Kumbh • The tradition of pilgrimage was founded by Rishis (sages) for arousing and channelizing the collective power of morally inclined people for global welfare and spiritual enlightenment of all. • Great saints, sages and scholars used to meet and discuss the global problems and produce solutions and constructive plans for progress and peace of all living beings

  15. Unique Experiments of Collective Chanting • SahastranshuBrahmYagya • 1st spiritual experiment of grand participation in 1953 of people from all parts of the society • auspicious commemoration of the glorious completion of twenty-four divine mahapurascharanas (24 lac Gayatri mantra chants) by Gurudev Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya (founder of Gayatri Pariwar) • About 25000 sadhaks chanted 125000 Gayatri mantra each over 18 months period and performed havans of 125000 of this holy mantra • This mahayagya and the associated sadhna was indeed the commencement of the divine endeavor of YugNirman (reconstruction of an era ) • BrahmastraAnushthan • The next major experiment of collective spiritual power was conducted as the “BrahmastraAnushthan” was completed in 1958. • First phase comprised of 24 lac Gayatri mantra chants. Sadhaks who had performed the Jap with chastity and austerity were allowed to participate in this sacred yagya

  16. Unique Experiments of Collective Chanting • AshtagrahiYog • Year 1962 faced the rare alignment of planets – the AshtagrahiYog, which was professed by several authentic astrologers and foretellers across the global, as an ill omen for the earth • All members of Gayatri Pariwar performed dedicated collective Anushthan to prevent the likely disastrous effects and as a result it passed without any significant disturbance to our planet • ShaktiMahapurascharan • This was another remarkable example of collective Sadhna at the times of sudden attacks by China in 1962 & Pakistan in 1965. • Spiritual energy generated by these collective Sadhnas worked behind miraculous happenings in the battlefield. • What made the victorious Chinese army’s unexpected ‘about-turn’ in front of the defeating Indian army? Defense analysts/ political experts don’t have a logical explanation to this…Only visionaries of subtle impact were able to know the real cause. • These special experiments were accompanied by large number of Gayatri Yagyas all over the country.

  17. Unique Experiments of Collective Chanting • SurakshaAnushthan • Much before scientific community was alarmed by the unexpected fall of the sky-lab in June 1979, Pt. Shriram Sharma Acharya initiated this spiritual experiment aimed at preventing the disastrous consequences of the likely mishap. • Space scientist feared sky-lab’s fall would have risked calamitous loss at Laos, Manila, Panama, Nigeria, states of Gujarat or Orissa and West Bengal in India. However, at last moments this huge spacecraft got naturally deviated and plunged into the remote depths of Pacific Ocean leaving safe the inhabited land on our planet. • No scientific investigation could decipher the hidden force of nature that triggered an upright in scientifically approved likelihood. • Deep study into dominance of subtle world over visible world elucidated this would be possible by the conscious power aroused by spiritual Sadhnas. Do you know ?? – “2012 is sometimes claimed to be a great year of spiritual transformation (or apocalypse). Many esoteric sources interpret the completion of the thirteenth B’ak’tun cycle in the Long Count of the Maya calender (which occurs on December 21” - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012

  18. Unique Experiments of Collective Chanting • PragyaPurascharan • Revered Acharyaji had declared the period of 1980 – 2000 as YugSandhiKal (cosmic changes before the change of era). • He emphasized the need for greater purification of people’s mind and spiritual enlightenment and molding their attitude to adopt the new world order that is due to be bestowed by the Almighty. • In this 24 crore Gayatri Mantra Jap was performed daily collectively by 24 lacparijans(members) per day which later increased to 120 crores chants per day. • Number of yagyas and havans were also augmented in the same proportion reaching almost every village, town and city in India. • This remarks a rare endeavor of active participation of awakened souls in God’s project of purification and righteousness orientation of the subliminal flow Do you know ?? - As part of its Yug Nirman Yojana – a mission of social, cultural and spiritual refinement and reconstruction, the Gayatri Pariwar, Shantikunj Hardwar had mobilized a unique spiritual experiment at the critical juncture of the change of an era
