All About Mrs. Joyce • My background • I grew up in Spokane WA • I attended WSU& EWU receiving my Bachelors Degree in Education. • I received my Masters Degree from Lesley University with a specialization in creative Arts. • My experience • I’ve been teaching for 14 years. • I have also taught Pre-school, Kindergarten, First, and Third Grade.

  5. My Goals • To give your child the academic and social skills they need to progress to third grade. • To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. • To help your child make new friends and discover new interests.

Homework • Homework begins Friday September 27th • Sent home every Friday and due back the following Friday. • Building responsibility for getting papers to and from school. • The Purpose of Homework is the review and extend learning from the classroom to home. • Parent signature required • Friday Blue folders • Homeworkopoly incentive game!

  22. Attendance • School starts at 8:30 A.M. • Classroom doors open at 8:20 • Did you know that if a child misses 13 school days a year, it would average a full year of lost learning by the time they graduate high school? • Attendance is so important to your child’s success!!!

  23. Star of the Week Every Week one student will be chosen as the star of the week. Their poster will be placed on our star of the week board! On Wednesday, during their special week, they may bring 2 special items from home to share. These items will remain hidden in their backpacks until sharing time. The Star of the week will give clues to the class to help them guess what they brought to share. Star of the Week Posters will be shared on Friday afternoons!

  24. Volunteers • Volunteers are welcome and appreciated! • You must be background checked and cleared before working in the classroom. • Please sign-up for a time if you would like to volunteer on a weekly basis. • Occasional volunteers can be arranged with me. • Please let me know if you cannot make a day. • Weekly volunteers will begin in October.

  27. Classroom Needs As a class full of little “hands on” learners we will continuously use up community supplies. Donations are always appreciated Wish List Plastic zipper sandwich/gallon bags Hand sanitizer Glue sticks Markers Crayons Craft supplies Books/Books on Tape or CD Old personal tape players of personal CD players (For a new listening station-Daily Five)
