Goals of the Assignment • To engage students in a dialogue with community members about their vision and goals for a safer community • Inspire leadership within the students to take ownership of their ideas and preferred methods of social change • To engage students in the creation and presentation of ideas at the Thursday, October 18, 2012 Violence Prevention Stakeholders Event

Structure of the Stakeholders Event • 6 – 6:30 p.m. Sign in, Networking, Light refreshments & Food • 6:30 p.m. Welcome (Dr Crain (Lead Faculty, Violence Prevention Initiative), Dr Jackson (President of College of Alameda), Students) • 7:00 p.m. Video on the Violence Prevention Initiative • 7:15 Program Updates and Presentation (Dr Crain & Students) • 7:45 – 8:15 Student Poster Presentations Gallery & DJ (Student led) • 8:15 Community Discussion & Closing (Student led)

Instructions • In your notes identify the following questions to format your poster design 1) What is the problem you want to address? 2) Based on the spectrum of prevention assigned to you, what is method of prevention or intervention you’d like to create with your group? Be creative, think deeply and discuss in your group. 3) What is the data, information or scholarly material that you’ve read or found that will support your method created. 4) What other supporting materials would you like to include at your table? (handouts, video, survey, etc.) 5) Assign tasks to complete the project between this week and next week. You have until October 18, 2012.
