  1. WHAT IS MONTFORTIAN GABRIELITE EDUCATION? WHAT IS MONTFORTIAN GABRIELITE EDUCATION? For the Teachers, Collaborators and Associates of Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel in the World Presentation by Bro. Paul Raj fsg

  2. What is Education? Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself. - John Dewey. The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. - Sydney J. Harris To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society. -Theodore Roosevelt Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten. - B. F. Skinner

  3. What is Education? “I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. -Mark Twain. “You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.” - Brigham Young “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.” -Aristotle

  4. “[Kids] don't remember what you try to teach them. They remember what you are.” ― Jim Henson “Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil.” - ― C.S. Lewis

  5. Then what is education? • The definition of education guiding most schools today is that education is the delivery of knowledge, skills, and information from teachers to students. • This mistaken idea of what true education is and how it can be achieved is the root problem in mainstream education today.

  6. Then What is Education? • We can propose that behind all the differences of opinion about what it means to be educated is one very basic idea: • “an educated person is someone who perceives accurately, thinks clearly, and acts effectively on self-selected goals”. • Another proposal is a map of how insiders (teachers, students, helpers, collaborators, PTA etc) in schools can participate effectively in the learning/ education environment.

  7. QUALITIES OF A MONTFORTIAN GABRIELITE TEACHER • One who moulds Character and persons. • One who Accompanies the Students. • One who is Fascinated by Learning and Imparting Knowledge. • One who believes in love and truth. • One who is familiar with Montfortian Gabrielite Charism and Spirituality. • One who appreciates Cross and Wisdom.

  8. QUALITIES OF A MONTFORTIAN GABRIELITE TEACHER • A teacher who enjoys his/her vocation • A person who treats teaching as a call from God and not as a job. • One who not only teaches subjects but teaches life and values. • One who is concerned about the students’ human and spiritual dignity. • One who promotes Peace, Love, Justice, Equality and Fear of God.

  9. A teacher who plants the seed but growing will take time. • You are an expert on your subject. • You feel like more than a teacher-you are a counsellor, disciplinarian, parent, coach, mentor, guide and role model. • Your Students are asking questions and not just giving answers. • You practice strength and patience
