  14. At the end of last term, I emailed my instructors to ask for the names of top students so that I could send them a congratulatory email. I was delighted to get this email from an IT 213 instructor :> One of my students that deserves recognition is XXXX > He earned an A+ in the class by consistently handing in high quality > work and scoring high marks on all exams. He demonstrated > discipline and study habits that are key to academic excellence.This student is a very typical BSIT success story.  He started in one Engineering major, got bogged down in Math and Physics and went from Probation in F02 to the Dean's List in Sp03 after switching to the BSIT.  He had always done well in his Gen Ed courses and his GPAs now are: Current    3.751         Cumulative  2.97  He is not alone. The BSIT is enrolling many such students whose academic careers have been resuscitated by the BSIT major. These are students who are bright and have a strong technical aptitude, but don’t have the math aptitude to succeed in Computer Science, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.   15. Services: In many ways, we can simply expand on existing models for student support services at PW. Short term Food service later in the evenings Shuttle service on Fridays and Saturdays ITU support on Saturdays (being implemented) Long term Housing and related student services Student Life: nascent IT Student Organization University Life at the PW Campus

  16. The success of the BSIT can be attributed to several factors: We are meeting both academic and work force needs. The VCCS IST program acts as a feeder. We built upon the success of the IT minor. The fact that students can do some of their coursework at Fairfax makes this major very attractive. Lessons Learned
