  1. Writing Project • You are going to be writing a personal narrative. • While writing the narrative, every day you will have a new writing task and challenge.

  3. Verbs – Monday (For a list of the verbs, please see your interactive notebook) Linking verbs link the subject to the predicate. Ex. She is a very nice teacher. (pred noun) Ex. The teacher is very nice. (pred adj) Helping verbs help the main verb in the sentence. When helping verbs are used with main verbs, they form a verb phrase. Ex. She will go to the dance team tryouts today. Action verbs show action in the sentence. Ex. She took her daughter to the fair.

  7. DO, IO, PN, & PA *A direct object is a noun or pronoun that receives the action of a verb. It answers the question "What?" after an action verb. *An indirect object comes before the direct object. The indirect object receives the direct object. It answers the question “To Whom?” after you identify the direct obj. *A predicate adjective is an adjective that follows a linking verb and describes the subject. LV PA • Ex. The sea is calm tonight. “Is” is your linking verb. *A predicate noun is a noun that follows a linking verb and renames the subject. LV PN Ex. The sea was a beast tonight.
