  1. Gosford Hill School Year 7 Summer Camp 2014

  2. YEAR 7 MARLOW CAMP 2014 • During the school activities week (Alternative curriculum) • Dates: 14th July – 16th July (Mon-Weds) • 3 days; 2 nights • Residential experience to develop key skills: Communication, Leadership, Building Friendships and domestic skills! • Develop as a team-small groups/house groups/year 7 group activity groups. • Teaching and non teaching staff on site along with site staff

  3. Departure – Mon 14th July • Need to be at school for 08:30am on morning of 14th July. • Leaving Gosford Hill at 09:00am. • Arrive in comfortable travel wear – do not need school uniform! • Hand luggage is not needed but please bring packed lunch for Monday. • Arrival at around 10.30am. • Tents will be put up on arrival on site.

  4. Return to school – Weds 16th July • Complete last activity in morning • Have lunch • Pack up tent and equipment • Depart approx. 2:30pm • Arrive back to Gosford Hill approx. 3:30pm

  5. PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES • Climbing • Orienteering • Problem solving • Bell boating • Kayaking • Hike

  7. What will they need to take? ESSENTIAL ITEMS 4 complete change of clothes (tracksuit, shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts) Waterproof jacket Old trainers for water sports Trainers suitable for walking or walking boots Sleeping bag Packed lunch for 1st day Tea towel, scourer, Cloth Cutlery and mug • A Large, named bag • Wash kit • Towel • Sun hat • Sun Cream • Swim wear • Nightwear • Torch • Personal medications (named) • Pocket money (£10 max in change) Optional Items: walking boots, Karrimat Please DO NOT bring: Mobiles, aerosols, or excessive jewellery

  8. DO NOT BRING MOBILES PHONES/ VALUABLES • They do not mix well with water! • High risk of losing them. • Emergency contact number is provided.

  9. Medications • Please labels all medications with name and required dosages. • Please hand into Miss Jones on Monday before we depart. • Please speak to Miss Jones regarding any personal medical issues following this meeting.

  12. Safety • Most activities are led by fully qualified centre staff • Orienteering, problem solving, Hike is led by experienced GHS school staff • We have a number of staff who are 1st aid trained – kitchen as base • Staff camp in all areas of the site • Year 10 leaders

  13. Help from you! • Putting up tents – Sunday 13th July from 5pm to 7.30pm (to be confirmed) • Dropping tents off to school during the week before we go – clearly labelled. • Volunteers to help with kitchen preparation. • Donations of Cakes/ cookies brought to school on the day of departure.

  14. Final payment is due by Weds 2nd May Tent letter must be returned to school by Friday 6th June
