  2. What is Super Night? • 10-hour lock-in for March of Dimes • $50 minimum per student to participate • Dancing, sporting events, activities • Trophies and prizes • Food

Why Super Night? • Other activities for the March of Dimes • March for Babies • Beanies • Baby Feet • Paper Pumpkins/Paper Toy Soldiers • Focus on total student body and faculty • Hold late at night/early morning to encourage participation • Present variety of activities that attract student interest • Promote teacher participation • Initiate an event that incorporates many participants

  4. Who can go? Any current HS student raising $50 Faculty Administrators Where & When? • HS Gymnasium • Nov. 21, 2008 • Pick a date between sporting seasons

  5. How to Get Started • Talk to membership • Build enthusiasm • Formulate Goals • Length of event • Requirement to attend • Types of activities • Donation target

How to Get Started (continued) • Decorations/setup • Chaperones • Marketing plan • Food/drinks • Prizes • 1st, 2nd, & 3rd prizes for raising the most money • Medallions/trophies for sports tournaments • Contest/activity prizes • Clean-up • Develop committees • Theme • Music • Tournaments • 3-on-3 basketball • Indoor soccer • Volleyball • 3-point shot • Activities • Dance contest • Jell-o eating contest • Dating game

How to Get Started (continued) • Partner with community businesses for donations • Design a school-wide assembly to promote awareness of premature birth/March of Dimes • Create a student packet • Summary/purpose of event – supplied by March of Dimes • Permission slip • Medical form • Pledge form • Envelope for donations • Work with the March of Dimes

Timeline Four months prior to event • Create interest • Develop theme and committees • Suggest activities • Set monetary goals • Solicit donations • Mail initial letter • Call for response • Place reminder call week of event • Provide donation form for tax purposes • Create chart: business/location/phone/donation/delivery or pickup time

Timeline (continued) • Schedule date/times for assembly and event • Explain purpose of Super Night • Provide speakers from March of Dimes/ambassador family • Show 6-7 min current video (available from March of Dimes) • Describe activities/sign-up method for tournaments • Promote prizes • Distribute packets • Coordinate with March of Dimes • Market the event • Flyers • Large banner over the gymnasium • Sign-up sheets for tournaments in designated area • School newspaper • Radio/cable television
