  3. Immigration • Need to be taught how to become Americans • Assimilation • Common Culture • George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Jefferson • Feared lack of assimilation • Become “one people” • Incorporate in society • Earn citizenship, not immediate

  5. Immigration • American strongly support teaching about America • Create on-line programs • Primary language • Model after Jewish program • 500 hours • Required for some jobs

  6. Immigration-Patriotic Education • Common Standards for Patriotic Educaition • Combine with learning to read • Library of Congress system for homeschoolers • PBS make library available • State Universities to teach US History without bias to the left
