  1. ICT and the Creative Curriculum

  2. In ICT lessons we teach computer skills in the context of the cross curricular topic for that half term. For example in Year 6 we learn about Victorian Britain and we learn how to make PowerPoint presentations so our presentations are all about Victorian Britain.

  3. Victorian Medicine • The Victorians had some weird potions and medicines. • They used blood sucking leeches to cure things like Rickets and Smallpox

  4. In Year 5 we learn how to use spreadsheets as part of our Science Healthy eating Topic. The children input the data and print out Graphs and Pie Charts etc.

  6. In Year 4 we learn about electricity. We publish newspaper articles about Faraday and Edison

  7. THE AWARD- WINNING WEEKLY NEWSPAPER FOR KIDS Children have used history sources to produce text for a newspaper article. The images are imported through Google. £1.10 11-17 Jan 2008 First News Thomas Edison was born in 1847 in Milan, Ohio in the United States.Today’ Thomas Edison started a new invention. He made the phonograph. He was very clever. Thomas’ mother taught him because Thomas Edison didn’t do well at school and gave him books to read because Thomas was curious. The children copied the layout from a real newspaper.

  8. In Year 3 we make posters to reinforce Science lessons and Environmental Issues. Save our Trees Trees give us oxygen. Don’t cut down our trees because animalslive in them. Trees give people and animals food andshelter.

  9. In Year 2 we make advertising posters for books that we have read in our class. The children import pictures from the internet and learn to make bold splashes and slogans. Our ICT skills, in this case, are taught as part of the literacy curriculum.

  10. Really read this book! All In One Piece by Jill Murphy All in one piece is a book where Mr and Mrs Large try to escape from the children. In the end Mr Large said if Mrs Large had paint on her dress that Mrs Large will look nice. And that was actually true! Buy it from your local bookstore!

In the earlier years the children are encouraged to use the • computers to write their names and experiment with fonts, • sizes and coloursof text. • They use numeracy and spelling • programmes to enhance keyboard and mouse skills. • They are taught to log-in and save their work. • They take photographs of each other and download them • on to the computer. • They use online learning through Espresso and • Education city for skills practise in all curriculum areas.

  12. Fronter……. Online Home Learning!!! Every class from Year 1 to Year 6 have a virtual classroom online by way of Fronter.com. Each teacher puts activities On their year group page for the children to access at home.

  13. ICT is not only about the use of Computers. We use still cameras, video cameras, audio books data loggers, tape recorders, mp3 players and more, to involve the children in the technology all around them. All of this technology is used in all subjects from Science to PE. ICT is a Creative Curriculum Essential!! The music playing was composed by children in Year 6 on a programme called Garageband!!
