  3. Characteristics of A Good Man • Knowledgeable • Wise ADAB • JUST

  4. What is ADAB? It is the recognition and acknowledgement of the right and proper place, station, of one’s self in relation to the various hierarchy in the order of being, existence and knowledge, and acting willingly in accord with the recognition and acknowledgement.

  5. Key words (to understand ADAB) • Recognition-means to ‘know’(have knowledge of something) • Acknowledgement-means to ‘act’ (action consistent with that knowledge) • Hierarchy – various things are arranged in a legitimate order (heavenly bodies, plants, animal, knowledge, prophets, angels, heaven, hell, family, society) • Acting willingly- ‘wanting’ to act on our own free will.

  9. Methods of inculcation of adab • Through good examples (Qudwah Hasanah) • Through advise (Nasihah) • Through good indication (Wa bashira)and reminders (Wa nazira)- rahmah, nikmat • Through Qisah • Through rewards and punishment

  10. Symptomatic -social problems -crime -breakdown of institutions The root cause -family -lack of knowledge education) -lack of faith The ISLAMIC APPROACH IN DEALING WITH DEVIANT BEHAVIOUR

  11. WHY MAN DEVIATE FROM THE RIGHT PATH • THE LOSS OF ADAB- NEGATIVE ATTITUDE & NEGATIVE MIND SET THE LOST OF GOD CONCIOUSNESS & GOD FEARING THE NAFS IS NO LONGER WITHIN FITHRAH

  12. CONDUSIVE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT MUST BE PROVIDED TO DEVELOP CONCIOUSNESS & RESPONSIBILITY TO BE A GOOD MAN PUNISHMENT IS NECESSARY TO DEVELOP DETERRENT BUT IT MUST BE EDUCATIONAL IN NATURE TO DEVELOP DEEP REALIZATION BACK TO FITRAH EDUCATION & PUNISHMENT

  13. “Verily this Quran is GOD’s Banquet on earth, so learn thoroughly, then, from (or of) His Banquet.”-the holy Quran is God’s invitation to a spiritual banquet on earth, and we are exhorted to partake of it by means of acquiring real knowledge of it.
