SEARCH OCP Meeting • Summary/review of SEARCH SSC meeting (Craig Lee), incl. coordination with other panels and next steps • Interagency coordination (Craig Lee, Pete Murdoch); planning of spring 2009 meeting and follow-up later in the year • SEARCH Data Advisory Group, update and next steps • International coordination; ISAC update, next steps on (formal?) agreements with international projects (ArcticNet, Damocles succession etc.) • Miscellaneous

  2. SEARCH Interagency Coordination IPMC: • Appoints SSC members • Develops implementation plan • Program managers from NSF, NOAA, NASA, DoD, DoE, DoI, USDA & ARC observer

SEARCH Interagency Coordination • Premise • Language in NSF AO for AON - PIs encouraged to partner with agencies for long-term strategies of obs.; OCP to help community explore & potentially address that challenge • As observational & understanding components of SEARCH move forward, increasing need for coordination & dialog with data/information end-users - this requires joint effort with agencies • Federal administration transition period as an opportunity to review, potentially revise and move forward • How to get this process off the ground? • Advice & guidance from ARC & IPMC & IARPC • Identify models & partners to improve interagency coordination & planning • Identify areas in which progress is attainable & where it is not • Develop step-wise process to move forward • Potential issues • Engage both program/research-level and higher-level partners within agencies • Identify potential benefits for agencies, aim is not to interfere but to help move forward

SEARCH Interagency Coordination • Potential way forward: • Work with IPMC to engage program managers • Engage IARPC (through Mike Van Woert) • Identify potential higher-level contacts with different agencies • Plan for higher-level meeting in Spring 2009; Goals • Raise awareness & inform • Get input on process to improve interagency coordination & sustain relevant components of AON • Identify successful models & contacts to help us move forward • Delineate achievable & non-attainable goals • Plan for interagency coordination theme for next AON PI meeting?

SEARCH Data Advisory Group • SEARCH Data Working Group has been terminated • Concept of the CADIS Advisory Group (CAG) was accepted by SSC as good, practical strategy for moving forward on SEARCH data issues • SSC requested that name of CAG be changed to SEARCH Data Advisory Group (SDAG) and that this group generally report to the SEARCH SSC • It was asked to add 1-2 members to SDAG to incorporate some expertise on data and information systems or portal technology • Need to identify Chair of SDAG
