DeKalb Tornado DeKalb, AL/Dade, GA Strength/Wind Speed: EF-5/>200 mph Time: 6:19 PM- 6:56 PM Length/Width: 33.66 miles/0.75 miles Fatalities/Injuries: 25/Unknown The DeKalb tornado is believed to have begun in the Lakeview area and tracked just east of Rout 75 through Rainsville, Sylvania, and into Cartersville. Rainsville and Sylvania experienced EF-5 damage as houses were wiped completely off of their foundations and trees were debarked. Concrete porches were ripped apart and displaced. There were signs of ground scaring and sidewalk pavement damage. This tornado claimed 25 lives and lasted just over 30 minutes.
