  1. Graduation Requirements(Class of 2017) • HSPA Spring of Junior Year • 120 Total Credits • 4-Pe/Health • 4-English • 3-Math (Algebra 1, Geometry, & Algebra 2) • 3- Science • 3-Social Studies • 1-Foreign Language • 1-Practical Art • 1-Fine/Performing Art • 1-Finacial Literacy (2.5 Credits)

  2. College Bound Students • Students planning on applying to four-year colleges should take a minimum of 16 courses at the college prep level or higher. Students planning on applying to selective colleges should take a fourth year of Math and a third year of Foreign Language to be competitive. The minimum 16 units must include the following areas: • 4 - English • 3 - Math • 3 - Lab Science • 3 - Social Studies • 2 - Foreign Language (SAME LANGUAGE) • 1- Elective • 16 CP units minimum • NCAA Clearinghouse: College bound Student Athletes should visit http://web1.ncaa.org/ECWR2/NCAA_EMS/NCAA.html for more info.

Functions of the Guidance Department • Academic (course selection/scheduling) • Career/College • Personal concerns Students can request an appointment with their counselor by filling out a Counselor Request form and leaving it with the front desk in the Guidance office. When counselors receive requests, they will call the student to their office as soon as possible.

  4. Student Handbook/Assignment Book • Freshman students are provided with an agenda book at the beginning of their 9th grade year. • Located in the front of this agenda book is the student handbook, which contains all of our school rules and policies. • The student handbook is your resource for finding information on graduation requirements, the attendance policy, athletic eligibility, etc.

  5. Athletic/Activities Eligibility • Fall/Winter: Students must pass 6 classes, or 30 credits to remain eligible for participation. • Spring: Students must pass 6 classes, or 30 credits in the second marking period. Additionally, Students must be passing 30 credits at the end of the first semester (Marking period s 1 and 2 averaged).

  6. Attendance Policy • Missing more than 10 unexcused days per school year will result in No Credit Status. • Excused absences: Note from parent/note from doctor • Cutting class: 4 cuts = No Credit Status

CAREER/COLLEGE READINESS NAVIANCE – Plan for your future! • To access the Naviance Family Connection follow these steps: • Go to http://connection.naviance.com/ehths • Obtain your Registration Code from your Guidance Counselor • First Time Registration: • Click “In need to Register” (on right side) • Fill in your registration code • Complete registration by filling in email and password • Review terms and click “I accept” • Click “Complete Registration” • Start Exploring Career and College information! Career Fairs – (December 6, 2013)! • We have several great career speakers scheduled throughout the school year. • Please see anyone in the Guidance office for more information or to sign up.

Tutoring/Student Portal • Portal Student Login information (Check your grades) • Login: Your 6 digit student ID number • Password: Your Initials and your birthdate (MMDDYR) • Math /English Tutor Center – E106 • Open to all students during study hall or lunch. Ask your teachers for a pass • National Honor Society Tutoring • Open to all students after school during activity period, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the Library. • Sign-ups are in the Guidance Office • Study Island – Tutoring and SAT Prep • Online program open to all students for all subjects. Access from your home computer. • Login: First name . Last name @ ehths • Password: Your 6 digit student ID number

  11. Teen Center • The Teen Center is located on the first floor behind the nurses office.
