  1. Masonry Wall Insulation

  2. What is Reflective Insulation? Insulation that forms enclosed air spaces. The insulation layers include a special grade of Aluminum. Aluminum foil has the properties of High reflectivity and Low emissivity that block up to 97% of radiant energy, so heat transfer through radiation is effectively eliminated. Emissivity (or Emittance) refers to the ability of a material’s surface to emit or transmit radiant energy. All materials have an emittance that ranges from zero to one. The lower the emittance of a material, the lower the heat (infra-red radiant energy) radiated from its surface. A black body (flat black painted metal) would have a high emittance close to 1.0. Aluminum foil has an emittance of 0.03 – 0.05 Reflectivity (or Reflectance) refers to the fraction of incoming radiant energy that is reflected from the surface.

  3. Masonry Wall Insulation Installed on Wood or Metal Furring HIGH-PERM VERSION (NOT A VAPOR RETARDER) …Recommended in Hot, humid climates such as Florida. Class B Flammability Rating should not be left exposed generally covered by Drywall

  4. AA2 Vapor Shield for installation over wood or metal R-4.1 3/4” Wood Furring R-4.6 7/8” Metal Hat Channel R-5.1 1-1/2” Wood Furring

  5. Masonry Wall Insulation Installed on Wood or Metal Furring HIGH-PERM VERSION (NOT A VAPOR RETARDER) …Recommended in Hot, humid climates such as Florida. VR Plus has a Class A Flammability Rating that in most building applications can be left Exposed

  6. VR Plus Shield for installation over Wood or Metal R-5.0 7/8” Metal Hat Channel R-7.0 1-1/2” Wood or 1-5/8” Metal Framing

  7. New! White Facing Masonry Wall Insulation Installed on Wood or Metal Furring HIGH-PERM VERSION (NOT A VAPOR RETARDER) …Recommended in Hot, humid climates such as Florida. M-Shield has a Class A Flammability Rating that in most building applications can be left Exposed

  8. M-Shield for installation over Wood or Metal R-4.1 3/4” Wood Furring R-4.6 7/8” Metal Hat Channel R-5.1 1-1/2” Wood Furring

  9. AA2 Vapor Shield Hi-Perm, VR Plus Shield Hi-Perm and M-Shield Are also available with Integral Tape Tab seam, for attaching to metal framing.

  10. Reflective Insulation -Study changes Performance Perception • Reflective Insulation is the most • cost-effective insulation system • for block-wall construction: • Adequate thermal performance • Low cost per R-Value • Greater energy savings and payback • …due to lower installation cost and • greater annual savings in heating • and cooling expenses. This study included: ►Weather data from 5 Florida cities, which included Jacksonville, Panama City, Orlando, Tampa and Miami. ►Samples of 5 different one-story masonry block-wall structures were used, each constructed with a distinct insulation system. Study conducted by R& D Services, Cookeville, TN Block-Wall Structures used... Wall-1: [Base Case = ¼” stucco, 8-inch block, ¾” furring, ½” gypsum] Wall-2: added AA2 Vapor Shield Hi-Perm (One Reflective Air Space) Wall-3: added ¾” Foam Board cut between furring Wall-4: added VR Plus Shield Hi-Perm (Two Reflective Air Spaces) Wall-5: added ¾” Foam on Block tacked with ¾” furring to block While both structures using the Reflective Insulation outperformed the other samples in the study, VR Plus Shield Hi-Perm showed the best value in calculated simple pay back.
