  1. Kangol  Famous For All The Right Reasons Founded in 1938 by WW1 verteran Jacques Speiregen where he began making hats for workers, golfers and soon became the main supplier of berets to WW11 soldiers including the famous Field Marshall Montgomery.  Field Marshall Montgomery.  What's in a Name? It is a myth that the brand's name derives from the Kangaroo logo.  Founder Jaques Spreiregen worked with different yarns to create   something   new   and   different   in headwear.   Specialising   in   knitting   wool and angora together Spreiregen not only created exceptional headwear but a name was   born.   By   combining   the   K   from knitting, the ANG from angora, and the OL from wool and created the iconic name Kangol. During and after the war berets became the height of fashion and were embraced by both men and women.

  2. Swinging 60's By   the   1960's   Kangol   collaborated   with fashion   desingers   Mary   Qant   and   Pierre Cardin and Kangol became part of the clean linear design of the 60's. It quickly became obvious to Kangol that reaching to the youth driven market of music, sport and fashion would be its reinvention and saviour. Golfing legend Arnold Palmer introduced the Kangol style to the golf course and a collaboration with the The Beatles propelled Kangol to a house hold name and soaring sales. Beatles c.1964  Hip Hop  With  the 80's  saw  Kangol  enter  a  new  phase  of popularity  when the  Hiphop community adopted Kangol as the hat of flavour. Hip Hop legends Grandmaster Flash, RunDMC, LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Kangol Kid of UTFO and The Notorius B.I.G. all wore Kangol religiouly. Even songs had references to the Kangol. Boogie Boys 1980's hip hop band, reference Kangol in their song 'A Fly Girl.' The lyrics line reads, "Girls look fly in Kangols." The Hip Hop group "De La soul" referenced Kangol in the song Fallin' (featuring Teenage Fanclub) on the Judgment Night (Music From the Motion Picture) with the lines, "I knew I blew the whole fandango. When the drum programmer wore a Kangol."  Run DMC  In addition to the Hip Hop community, Kangol hats have crowned numerous famous faces including Princess Diana, Samuel L. Jackson, Madonna, Brad Pitt, Eminem, Oasis and sports legends like Shaquille O'Neal and Payne Stewart have all been seen
