  3. EDITOR’S NOTE Credibility is the first thing to care about! W more important than money, which is ‘trust’. The judgment whether a company is worthy of trust lies in an answer to the question: “Who trusts it?” It is a matter of belief in customers, employees, products, lenders, and trust in its own decisions. hat do you focus on when you build a company? Unfortunately, many people think just about their product and making money, and it is not the only thing that is important if you want to see your company reach new heights. There is another thing which is So what makes a company most trustworthy? Is there an eligibility to be one? We’ve been searching the reason behind a company being ‘Trustworthy.’ What we have found is that there is none. Being ‘Trustworthy’ is an aspiration – a very honorable one. ‘Trustworthy’, like, many objectives of a company, is in the eye of the beholder. One simple test for trustworthiness is how a company is experienced by its customers, employees, associates, its owners, and business partners. We looked over many companies that are very good. They treat all of their constituents well and, in their own unique ways, aspire to turn trustworthy. Here we present you The Silicon Review “50 Most Trustworthy Companies of the Year 2019.” These companies are not only trustworthy in their particular sector, but are setting an example on how to engage, retain their customers, and be reliable. The companies that are enlisted are known for their business strategies, customer centric approach, employee centred programs, partnerships/ collaborations, customer retention rate, financial stability and moreover ‘credibility’ is the first thing these companies care about. Success recognized to the fullest! Best, Vishnu Vardhan Kulkarni Managing Editor, The Silicon Review editor@thesiliconreview.com

How have they motivated you to shape your offerings/ grow the company? Maroba is well established and enjoys a very positive reputation in our region and the wider aged care sector. We receive generational referrals from families who have experienced our services in the past. They keep sharing their stories. The experience our consumers have day in day out shapes our delivery…we rely on live feedback to keep adjusting our interventions and offering to better suit the individuals needs and aspirations for their lives. Being a smaller organisation allows us to be more nimble and thus more responsive to our consumers. It’s all about relationship and transparency. Maroba was incorporated in 1954 and is headquartered in Waratah, NSW Australia. Viv Allanson, Maroba CEO, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt. Why was the company set up? And how did you expand your company and its offerings over the years? Maroba was established by a local Baptist church that saw the need to provide care with dignity to the elderly women in that local church. Viv Cork (a local resident) identified the need and dared to dream of the possibilities. Three people including Mr. Cork mortgaged their homes to “Maroba will continue to grow its services and innovate to meet the aspirations of future cohorts of older people and their families in the midst of poor govt funding and increasing compliance and expectations.” 12

  11. Maroba has been able to grow off the back of our reputation and continued focus on personalized services. that is unshakeable for us to build upon. It is these five assets that have contributed to our reputation and positioned us so well within the marketplace. are the norm within Maroba and we are corporate sponsors for ‘Got Your Back Sista’ (Supporting Women escaping Domestic Violence) and ‘Divas on the Green’ (Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Breast Cancer). What challenges did you face in your initial years? Whilst I was not around in the early years, we have stayed close to that experience through storytelling and are very aware of the financial struggles to get such an organisation going. We continue to evolve from a cottage industry to a robust contemporary innovative organisation that has influenced not just locally but globally. Our commitment to purpose has been a major success factor…you just can’t waiver on that. Is it true that striving for both ethics and success in a business is a tough feat? It may be tough for some but when you know your true north…that makes it much easier. You don’t have to second guess yourself and you can stay true to the purpose and values. Where do you see you and your company a couple of years from now? I see myself continuing to support the team especially those on a leadership journey as it has always been my priority to raise up leaders and release them to fly. Maroba will continue to grow its services and innovate to meet the aspirations of future cohorts of older people and their families in the midst of poor govt funding and increasing compliance and expectations. People like when companies are involved in social welfare/CSR activities, what do you say about this? The Maroba family is a generous family and support many causes to make a social impact within our local community and beyond. Maroba supports the very poorest of the poor in a nursing home in rural South Africa. Fundraising activities SR If you have to list five factors that have been/are the biggest asset to your organization, what would they be and why? The factors that make us stand out from the competition are our purpose, our values, our culture, our people, and our leader. Keeping on purpose sets the foundation Viv Allanson: A Formidable Leader Viv Allanson started as director of nursing in 1994 and was invited to be Maroba’s first CEO in 2000. Viv is a CEO who never accepts the status quo; in fact, she has just been announced as the Australian ‘Game Changer of the Year’ in her role as CEO of Maroba. She has continued to be on the front foot and is frequently recognised for its innovation within the aged care sector. Viv is a leader who strives to bring others on the journey of growth and change always sharing generously her time and experience to support all who aspire to be a “Difference Maker”. The registered nurse in Viv never lays down and is always advocating for the profession and its advancement as an integral part of the health care team. Viv Allanson, CEO 13

  12. An Interview with Lane Mendelsohn, Vantagepoint AI President: ‘We Bank on Our AI-Powered Trading Software to Help Traders Preserve their Hard-Earned Capital and Create Real Wealth’ “We are constantly evolving our technology so that our customers can trade smarter, with more confidence, and for greater gains.” A Many institutional players have already hopped on to the AI bandwagon. In another couple of years, widespread adoption of cognitive systems and AI is expected to boost worldwide revenues. An IDC report predicts that revenue growth could touch $47 billion by 2020. Lane Mendelsohn, Vantagepoint AI President, spoke exclusively with The Silicon Review. How successful was your first project roll on? Share the experience. We launched our first product in 1983, and the software was very well received once people got it installed on their computer and they started utilizing it. There was a challenge though – it was the early 80s! Everyone didn’t have home computers back then compared to the current scenario. Computers didn’t have the computing power either. And, the people who did have computers often didn’t know a lot about how to use them. My father did a lot of “tech support” in the early days; even going so far as to help people find and purchase a computer to run the software they had just purchased. That level of customer support has become the foundation of how we treat our family of Vantagepoint traders. We still provide this white glove level of concierge service to our customer base so that not only do they have the most powerful tools available in leveraging the power of AI, but we also want to ensure that they’re successful with it. rtificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a powerful disruptor in the Financial Services industry. Why was the company set up? And how did you expand your company and its offerings over the years? The company was originally set up in 1979 as a way for my father to develop cutting-edge trading technology for himself. Back in the early ‘80s, it was very expensive, obviously, to develop software. Most people did not have computers, so consequently there weren’t very many software developers. My father chose to expand his research and development into this emerging powerful tool by licensing the technology to allow him to take it to another level. He figured with other people benefiting from his technology and paying him to license it –that would give him more financial resources to continue developing his AI-based software. Today, 40 years With this in mind, we’re thrilled to present Vantagepoint AI, headquartered in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Vantagepoint AI is a leader in ai trading software research and development. It forecasts Stocks, Futures, Forex, and ETFs with proven accuracy of up to 86 percent. Thanks to Vantagepoint’s patented Intermarket Analysis, it can predict changes in market trend direction up to three days in advance, enabling traders to get in and out of trades at optimal times with confidence. The company is also recognized as one of the Top 10 Places to Work in Tampa Bay, a nationally certified great place to Work, and an Inc. 5000 company that employs a “family” of over 60 team members. Vantagepoint is also actively “ What do you feel are the reasons behind your company’s reputation? There are two fundamental components of our success: our culture and our technology. Our culture starts with our people which dictates how we serve our customers. Our product provides a meaningful service that empowers traders with reliable technology and intelligence. These two things combine to create our reputation. Our vision is to be the financial market forecasting software of choice for traders and investors around the world. ” on, we continue to license the software and reinvest that capital into continued Research and Development with our on-site team. committed to giving back in the Tampa Bay community and donates a portion of its revenue to Shriners Hospitals for Children monthly. Reputation is how people view you; as a business owner, I want to make sure 14

  13. that I’m serving my customers and my team. So every decision that we make, we consider both groups of people. What good would it be to make a decision that’s in the best interest of our employees but maybe isn’t in the best interest of our customers or vice versa? we have a 40-year track record with our customers; we really have a good idea of what our customers need, what they want, and what’s going to help them take their trading and investing to the next level. But we are also smart enough to remember that we don’t know everything, and we can still learn from our customers. passionate, that are always innovating and looking for ways to better serve our customer base. We have a team that embraces and lives our core values. Second is our technology. For over 40 years we have been refining and perfecting the technology so that it gives our customers an edge over the competition. Are there any factors that have played key roles in shaping your organization’s road map? Our company mission is ‘Empowering Traders Daily’, so if it’s an enhancement to the software, if it’s something new that we’re coming out with, an indicator, some sort of technological advancement, we need to make sure that at the end of it, our customers are going to say, “That helped me. I’m benefiting from that.” Building a culture of sustainability inside an organization is very important to maintain a reputation in the global market. How is it true for your company? For us, our organizational culture is paramount. We have eight core values that we do not waiver from – they drive our daily operations, our hiring, and all of our interactions. They include things like integrity, passion, teamwork, innovation, communication. We believe these are non-negotiable qualities we believe a company needs to be based on in order for it to grow and be successful. As a small company, we have the luxury of keeping our eye on our culture down to the last team member. A lot of companies, especially larger organizations, don’t or can’t invest in their culture; we spend a lot of time on it, and time is money – as you know. We’ve been voted one of the best places to work time and time again, and that resonates with our customers. Our commitment to giving back is also equally as important to our customers as it is to us. Our third asset is the support we provide to our customers and our dedication to their success. We put significant resources behind making sure we’re there for them, we’re helping them, and we’re serving them. Their success ensures our success. Fourth, as we discussed, is our culture. We know that by being dedicated to and maintaining our culture, we will naturally ensure our success, be it internal or external. If that’s not what we’re hearing, then we’ve missed the mark and that’s not the path that we need to continue to pursue. After being in business since 1979, Finally, the fifth would be our core values. When we do something we know why we’re doing it and who it’s going to benefit. That foundation guides everything we do and it allows us to make intelligent business decisions. Where do you see your company a couple of years from now? We’ll continue to focus on AI technology even more since it’s bearing fruits for the industry we serve. We’ll also continue to evolve how we serve our customers while maintaining our culture and positive atmosphere of innovation. If you have to list five factors that are your biggest asset, what would they be and why? Without a question, the number one asset in our organization is our people. We have a fantastic team. We have people that really are That said, I expect our company to grow by leaps and bounds in the years to come. Equally as important, we will continue to give back to worthwhile non-profit organizations; we’ll continue to do well and do good. SR Lane Mendelsohn, President 15

However there are a number of interesting turning points in our history; the launch of our bespoke development department in 2003, the introduction of our in- house design agency in 2006… E-commerce App Development: E-commerce apps are an essential part of a business, whose business is to sell goods or services. However this sector is not the reserve of the high-street titans, there is room for the small to medium-sized business or start-up who wants to use a mobile app as a means to sell to their customers. Compsoft develops traditional e-commerce apps but also delivers apps which are more boutique in their approach. Apps which either sell physical goods or services or in-app digital services. The company knows how to design an app which sells high-value goods, really communicating to the user when they should part with their hard-earned cash and making it an easy and reliable process for them. …and then Apple announced the iPhone in 2007… We quickly recognized that the introduction of the iPhone opened up a whole world of opportunities for application developers and when Apple released the SDK in 2008 we registered as developers and the ‘Silver Fox’ was coding that same day on a shiny new Mac Mini and we delivered our first commercial iOS app in 2009. A brief outlook at the solutions provided The rest, as they say, is history. Thanks to our insight and willingness to take a risk, our technical prowess, our design ability and an uncanny understanding for the touch interface, we focused wholly on mobile app development and quickly became leaders in our field picking up Android and Windows, adding them to our repertoire, as they were released. Ongoing Development: Ongoing development is a natural evolution, especially if the clients have signed up to evolve. Ongoing support isn’t a prerequisite although it adds better value if someone does, as they can take advantage of the discounted rates! The most recent significant event in our history was during 2016 when the bespoke arm of Compsoft broke away from the legacy licensing side of the business in order to wholly focus on building mobile apps. Compsoft Plc became Compsoft Creative and the future looks bright! The company treats ongoing development pretty much as it treats a new product, with the key advantage of already knowing the app and the business. However, the company will still revisit the business reasons for making changes, explore options Web App Development: Developing a web-app using standard HTML5 technologies is an important part of the company’s service offering. Developing 16

  15. The One Of Its Kind, Award -Winning App Development Company Compsoft Creative a web-app comes with its own challenges and pitfalls, which helps the clients to navigate. Storage on the device is limited, as is access to natives APIs and push notifications. While there are specific technical and design limitations to consider, its process for developing a web-app is not too different from that of its native cousins. Mobile App Development: Compsoft develops mobile apps for smartphones and tablets on Android, iOS and Windows platforms. It develops native apps using the tools sets provided by Apple, Google and Windows (Xcode, Android Studio and Visual Studio) and where appropriate developing using cross-platform technologies such as HTML5. “ Daniel Payne, Managing Director We’re not your typical mobile app development house, either. We didn’t just jump on the mobile app bandwagon because it was the shiniest thing out there, becoming the kind of app house which is all front-end and no technical gravitas. No, our flare for excellent design is underpinned by our technical excellence andour commitment to keeping our team up to date on the latest evolutions from Apple, Android, and Windows.” The company is a vertical agnostic, and this is the key. Developers who focus on a single sector (such as pharmacy or banking) tend to have preconceptions about the way things should work and are not able to think creatively when posed with a functional or technical challenge. The brains behind the operations Daniel Payne, Managing Director We are a team focused on excellence, innovation and we enjoy being challenged. We want to see your app becoming a huge success and will do everything we can to make it one. SR 17

  36. Simplifying the meandering corridors of Contract Management: Ecteon T it is research and development, managing payroll, production, manufacturing or if it is sales, marketing, and distribution, software that governs relevant technology has become an integral part of every aspect of business administration. Whenever two companies need to collaborate for any type of business activity, they formulate a contractual agreement that specifies various aspects of the partnership. Some of those aspects could include rights for manufacturing a range of products awarded by a company to a manufacturer, televising rights by a production studio to a broadcasting company, development of relevant business software by one company to an IT company, and so on and so forth. The most important part of any business alliance is the contract. The idea behind Ecteon The journey for Ecteon began 30 years ago when its founder, Richard Eckerstrom, was working as an analyst for the media giant CBS Records. Eckerstrom realized the importance of a consolidated way of managing all the numerous types of contracts that govern tie-ups and operations among contracting parties. This is where the idea for Ecteon was conceived. A large media organization like CBS Records maintained numerous contracts with its portfolio of artists and signed on many more every year. Each of the contracts would have had varying clauses that dictated the working relationship of the company with the artists. Some examples of such clauses include tenure, number of albums produced, distribution, pricing, advances, royalties, and so on. echnology governs just about everything that happens in today’s businesses. Whether nature of the service provider, pricing, requirements, and so on while considering numerous terms and conditions, legal disclaimers, copyright protections, patents, etc. Furthermore, all of these parameters vastly differ according to industry. To top it all, businesses also need to consider government regulations while drafting a contract, in order to avoid compliance complications. A contract is but a piece of paper, but it weighs heavily on corporations that run a business. It is for this reason that contract management is vital for an organization’s growth and protection against external legal risk. “Ecteon has been the leader in contract management for over “Ecteon has been the leader in contract management for over 30 years.” 30 years.” Eckerstrom saw this as an opportunity to deliver a product that would establish a supply for an ever-increasing demand, i.e. managing contracts between multiple business entities. This would be the start of an entrepreneurial journey that began three decades ago and is still going strong. Eckerstrom faced all the challenges and obstacles that are typical of every budding startup, namely, money and people. Eckerstrom succeeded in finding talented people who shared his Drafting, negotiating, signing and performing contracts are what generate revenues, define production costs, hire the teams, and keep a company afloat. Ecteon’s customers are reassured by the single focus of Ecteon’s staff and secure data systems that critical information is securely maintained. But in a larger sense, that trust means more than just keeping data secure. Ecteon works with many customers to turn the contracting process into a competitive advantage. Contraxx is a unique solution to manage contracting processes in enterprise environments with all the added flexibility to accommodate numerous types of legal entities, operational scenarios, differentiated process flows, and so on. Using Contraxx, an organization in any business sector can formulate an agreement with any other organization that belongs to any sector. It is such malleability and the ample provision to customize contracts to suit any requirement that has made Contraxx a definitive success among Ecteon’s customers. Richard Eckerstrom, CEO When considering the many facets of that mutual trust, Ecteon’s customers have learned they can trust Ecteon to care about their best interests. This culture of trust and customer care has resulted in many long term partnerships with Ecteon. 38. An Interview with Glenn Woppman, ASSET InterTech, Inc. President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board: ‘We’re the Leader in JTAG-based Testing and Debug’ “Our mission doesn’t end with best-in-class tools. It begins there and ends in long-lasting relationships with users.” O dramatically. At the same time, applications have demanded lower and lower power consumption, leaving little margin for error in system design and manufacturing. In addition, software, firmware and hardware have become increasingly interdependent. Each must be debugged within the context of the others. And that’s why the vision for the ASSET InterTech, Inc. created SourcePoint and ScanWorks platforms, calls for them to be brought closer together, creating a seamless validation, test and debug environment across hardware and software. That’s real insight into root causes. processor instead of the FPGA fabric. ver the last decade, the speed and complexity of electronic systems has increased the bring-up process; and Processor- based Functional Test, development software for engineers to increase test and fault coverage via at-speed tests using low-level control of the processor. Both ScanWorks’ test technologies enable test reuse from design with tools that support the manufacturing and repair procesess. Additional tools in the ScanWorks platform focus on fast device programming. Fast FPGA-based in- system Programming (FFP) is a tool with downloadable design functions to program large memories quickly to keep up with the manufacturing line beat rate. Complementing FFP is Processor-based Fast Programming (PFP) to achieve the same goal when memories are accessible from the and accessories, including probes, trace ports, analyzers, controllers, adapters, interposers, and other hardware for the SourcePoint and ScanWorks platforms. The company was incorporated in 1995 and is headquartered in Richardson, Texas. It has additional office locations in Anaheim California (Development); Letterkenny Ireland (Development); and sales/support offices in Shanghai China; San Diego and San Jose California; Minneapolis Minnesota; Boston Massachusetts; and Stoke-on-Trent UK. Glenn Woppman, ASSET InterTech, Inc. President/ CEO/ Chairman of the Board, spoke exclusively to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt. ASSET InterTech develops and supplies software and hardware debug, validation, and test tools. It offers SourcePoint, a platform of debug and trace tools for C/ C++ embedded software and firmware for Intel, AMD and Arm systems; ScanWorks, a platform that validates, characterizes, and test chips and circuit boards in development, manufacturing, and field service; Boundary-Scan Test, test software that develops interconnect tests and device- programming actions for use on first-prototype boards to accelerate The company also offers ScanWorks Embedded Diagnostics (SED), a custom embedded In-Target Probe (ITP) implementation that provides on-target run-control via baseboard management controllers (BMC) for target applications; SED supports two embedded applications; test during power-on self-test applications and debug for system hang applications as a forensic tool to aid in finding intermittent field faults in software or hardware. Why was the company set up? And how did you expand your company and its offerings over the years? ASSET InterTech is a spin-off of a Texas-based company called Texas Instruments (TI). The company was incorporated in support of a new, revolutionary test technology called boundary scan, based on the IEEE In addition, ASSET InterTech offers a variety of hardware modules

  39. Glenn Woppman | A Formidable Leader Glenn Woppman serves customers by making sure that everyone at ASSET continually strives to increase customer satisfaction. He is in charge of new initiatives and stays close to the market by spending the majority of his time with customers, prospects, and the people working closest with them. Mr Woppman led the ASSET business at Texas Instruments before spinning ASSET out of TI in 1995. The original ASSET focus was boundary scan test and he led the company through its expansion and transition to a leader in embedded instrumentation. Mr Woppman holds an MBA from SMU and a BSIE from the University of South Florida. Glenn Woppman, President, CEO, & Chairman of the Board 1149.1/JTAG standard established in 1990. As systems manufacturers were moving to surface-mount packaging technologies and more density of functions on printed circuit boards, physical access for board test was becoming more and more difficult. Thus, the boundary-scan/JTAG standard defined an architecture to put IO cells in silicon at each pin to enable virtual access. This technology drove the need and opportunity for a new way to test using a software-based test tool running on a low-cost PC versus the traditional hardware-based solutions sold as capital equipment. As part of the TI semiconductor business, the ASSET team was able to do the missionary work to champion the standards adoption across the semiconductor industry. But once adopted, the advantage of being in TI became limiting since for the test product line to have a chance of success it had to work with the entire semiconductor industry. Thus, TI agreed to spin off ASSET into – ASSET: ‘The Boundary-Scan Company’. just-in-time manufacturing changes that off-board or custom solutions cannot achieve. Boundary scan was widely adopted by the semiconductor industry in the second half of the 1990s. The major customers that took advantage of this new board test technology and tools were in the communications, defense/avionics, and computer systems segments. ASSET’s ScanWorks became the leading boundary-scan test and programming tool on the market supporting these three segments. The key test value ScanWorks delivers is high test coverage and robust diagnostics to the pin-level to find the fault. The key value from a device programming perspective is the ability to do in-system programming based on a standard, versus individual custom solutions. A standard way to do in-system programming enables a host of manufacturing process efficiencies in terms of re-programmability and The company expanded its offerings over the years investing in new technologies built on the IEEE 1149.1/JTAG foundation. Examples of those investments include supporting IEEE 1149.6 to address AC-coupled differential signal testing; FPGA Fast Programming IP and tools to accelerate in-system programming; and Processor-based Functional Test and Programming technology to support at-speed testing to further expand the fault domain that can be covered. All these technologies are integrated into the ScanWorks test platform for ease- of-use and deployment. ASSET’s first acquisition was a company in Ireland that was focused on functional test through an IEEE 1149.1/JTAG-based debug port, which supported Intel

Through the years, ASSET acquired technology and products from a host of companies worldwide, such as Tektronix for a VXI boundary-scan controller card, Saab Test Systems for a test application, and others. This helped ASSET move faster to address customer needs than if we had a not- invented-here attitude that would have precluded these technology acquisitions resulting in a negative impact on the company. of the tools is driven by advanced packaging technology, sub-micron semiconductor process technology and lack of physical access. A second key focus of that embedded strategy is to help the defense industry where systems are in the field for 20-30 years–in terms of addressing the billions of dollars it invests for “no trouble found” in the repair process. Recently, ASSET made a second acquisition, purchasing a company in California that was a leader in Intel-based software debug. That product line, SourcePoint, originally supported Intel Xeon and Core x86 products for software debug focusing on UEFI (BIOS in PCs and Servers). ASSET has expanded SourcePoint recently to support AMD EPYC server processors. Both ScanWorks and SourcePoint are platforms with multiple applications to give engineers access to debug, validation and test of complex electronic boards and systems. Customer service has become an industry in itself with companies from every sector maintaining elaborate systems and processes to provide support to their customers. At a time when technology is advancing at an astounding rate and markets continue to fluctuate, the needs of the customer are a critical bellwether for forecasting profits. orporations large and small are dependent on customer satisfaction to drive revenue and brand customers. One of the most important aspects of efficient customer support is the provision of a contact center. Simply put, a contact center is an organization set up by corporations exclusively for the purpose of providing full-time support for their customers. Unlike call centers, contact centers provide omnichannel access allowing their customers to interact through multiple channels such as; phone calls, email, VOIP, messaging and others. With over 2200 customers & partners ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, ZOOM has helped its clients capture the pulse of the market, improve customer satisfaction and expand their own base of customers. ZOOM International is one of the world’s leading customer experience solution providers for contact centers. Simply put, it is an established market leader in helping organizations understand how their customers feel when utilizing their products or availing their services. ZOOM has an internal system developed for capturing and reacting to their own customers’ sentiment in near real time, using automated NPS surveys, analytics, workflow, notifications and customer experience processes to With increased access to the internet, there are now various ways and means available for corporations to interact with and provide the necessary support to their 46

  45. Revolutionizing Workforce Optimization:ZOOM International create an exceptionally positive sentiment from their own customer base. In fact, their NPS score for the trailing 365 days is an astoundingly high 87 when companies like Apple and Amazon’s scores are around 70. They share a similar set of capabilities in their software platform with their clients to help elevate every encounter with their own customers. For those reasons, there is simply no other software provider in the contact center space that has the level of measurable trust and customer happiness that ZOOM does. Established in 1999, the company initially struggled to establish a firm customer base, however through effort and ingenuity, ZOOM established an exceptional service reputation capitalizing on the massive global market of customer support and contact centers. But what the company wants to focus on is the customer interaction part of the support infrastructure. With an established base of customers, ZOOM aspires to become the leading software solution provider for contact centers and back office teams. Their strategy to win is simple: simplification, centralization and speed to find critical customer interactions requires the ability to search across all channels (phone calls, emails, chats, texts, etc.) with as much ease as one has while searching for something on Google. Customer support is all about helping a customer derive the greatest value from a product or a service. Companies from every sector invest considerable amounts of revenue into providing a reliable means of customer support and satisfaction. ZOOM helps them elevate contact center operations and positive service to another level. By developing software to enable its clients to analyze all of their interactions with their customers, ZOOM has provided means for companies to learn about the general customer sentiment towards their products and services. This sheds light on what a company is doing right and where it needs to improve to maintain clients and protect revenue. A Unique Customer Focused Approach Workforce Optimization (WFO) is a business model that consolidates contact center technologies for enhancing customer experience and bolsters operational efficiency. Over the last 20 years, ZOOM International has developed software solutions for contact centers with over nineteen hundred customers in 94 countries. Three-fourths of the company’s revenue is derived from its contact center customers and with the remainder from back-office operational organizations. In order to accomplish its goal of leveraging customer interactions in the simplest way possible, ZOOM invested heavily to develop features leveraging Solr, a search analytics engine that would allow corporations to comb through all of the interactions they’ve had with their customers, past and present, to know which of their products and services are popular and which are not. Solr is extremely Knowing what the customer wants is an excellent indicator of where the market should be headed. Discerning market patterns is an extremely difficult task, and what better way to go about it than turning to the customer support infrastructure to yield useful data about where customer affinities lie? 47

ZOOM’s very own survey technology makes it easier to have a workflow process to identify areas that are not performing as per expectations and improve upon their offerings. and has done so by emphasizing groundbreaking innovation every step of the way. In light of this, it should come as no surprise that ZOOM has begun tapping one of the most advanced and talked about spheres of technologies currently available – artificial intelligence or AI. As a part of their continued technology investment, ZOOM is also converting their software platform to a cloud native architecture. Cloud native is an approach of designing and hosting applications from the cloud and providing services like container engines, orchestrators and continuous integration. It is especially useful for companies that are looking to hyperscale existing products and keep operational costs at a minimum. Using Kubernetes, docker and other open source cloud native technologies, they are developing a one-of-a-kind fully portable and secure software platform. The new platform is simpler to manage and operable on clouds by Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure as well as Rackspace. The same platform and products will support hundreds of thousands of users in the cloud and/ or can be installed on premises or within hybrid configurations. The modern architecture for these types of platforms also allow maximum extensibility using secured APIs and perform very well at scale for larger customers while remaining cost effective for smaller ones. One of ZOOM’s early differentiators is its media capture technology. As the name suggests, it allows users to record audio, video, phone calls and customer interactions across multiple channels. These can later be used to measure customer sentiment or meet compliance objectives and improve operational efficiency. Their media capture software was developed on a Solr based platform and remains the most popular of ZOOM’s products. Artificial intelligence is the hot buzzword of the entire global tech industry. In layman’s terms, AI is any sort of intelligence demonstrated by machines. It is without a doubt the future of technology and is well on its way to being incorporated into every aspect of the business. So, it was obvious that a highly innovative company like ZOOM would find a way to leverage this piece of technology to further elevate their solutions. Artificial Intelligence and machine learning algorithms, true to how they sound, require data or input to be able to learn a particular task and keep getting better at it. In other words, AI is only as good as the data that is given to it. ZOOM has committed considerable resources into developing what it calls the “emotion of the customer engine”. For a company that prides itself on determining the sentiment of customers, a machine learning powered algorithm that processes all the customer responses from numerous surveys would be extremely helpful in helping its clients to know what reactions to expect from their customers. Moreover, the large cache of customer data that is gathered from all customer interactions is the perfect input to get the desired output. For a company like ZOOM which is hyper focused on customer emotions, artificial intelligence and machine learning are some of the most promising tools to help them capitalize on growth opportunities and expand their foothold over the market. To further assist contact centers, ZOOM developed an in-house speech analytics engine to automatically “tag” interactions using phrases spoken during calls. It allows quality assessment managers at client companies to review hundreds of thousands of interactions with consumers and look for certain commonly used phrases that are indicators of levels of customer satisfaction. Corporations belonging to internet services, telecommunications, hospitality, healthcare, banking & finance, etc. interact with hundreds of customers each day and knowing the general sentiment towards their offerings goes a long way in shaping policy decisions. Such a comprehensive approach towards customer welfare ensures retention and subsequently, high revenues and a larger market share. Summary ZOOM continues to develop using the latest technologies, wow its customers with exceptional service and to provide a uniquely trusted workforce management platform for contact center organizations. Their extensive industry experience, innovative technologies and proven ability to elevate customer experience make them a compelling choice for contact centers and back office organizations of any size or scope.
