  2. Saint Stephen --- December 26th • First martyr for the faith --- died praying for those who were about to take his life

  3. Saint John --- December 27th • One of Christ’s apostles --- his gospel records the life and teachings of Jesus --- taught about incarnation, meaning “becoming flesh”

  4. Holy Innocents --- December 28th • Remembering the children who lost their lives near the time of Jesus’ birth --- Herod had ordered his soldiers to kill the baby boys in Bethlehem who were under the age of two.

  5. Feast of the Holy Family --- Sunday after Christmas • We honor Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as a family. We pray for our own families, and strive to be like the Holy Family.

  6. Mary, Mother of God --- January 1st • Celebrating Mary’s role in God’s saving action in history --- honoring her as the Mother of the Church

  7. Epiphany --- Sunday between January 2nd and the 8th • God revealed His Son to all nations --- the Wise Men traveled to find the newborn King with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

  8. The Lord’s Baptism --- Sunday after the Epiphany • This feast remembers the day John the Baptist anointed Jesus in the River Jordan.
