  1. Welcome to Molenariville at “The Creek.” I’ll begin our presentation at 7:15. Feel free to tour our classroom and review the information that is on your child’s desk. Molenariville Celebrating 27 years.

  4. 10. The Curriculum (Science and Social Studies)There is a lot!!! Science: Nature’s Recyclers, Energy, Weather Learn and use the Scientific Method during experiments Peace Valley Environmental Experience in May Non-fictional reading using National Geographic Magazine for Kids Social Studies: Geography, The Revolutionary War, The Constitution, Westward Expansion Current events using Time For Kids

  5. 9. Curriculum (Language Arts) The Reading Program incorporates Comprehension Toolkit and Lead 21 and paperbacks. They will read and respond to a variety of literature. Express and support opinions with information from the text. Independent reading will occur daily in school and at home Book Bistro: Reading independently Reading Olympics Writing Curriculum (Being A Writer) Use of mentor texts and a Writer’s Notebook Spelling Handwriting (cursive)

  6. 8. Homework Purpose: Promote student growth and reinforce what is learned in the classroom. Students independently practice what they learned as well as their time management skills. Assessment: Homework is not graded. However, students will be held responsible for completing all assigned homework. Completion is part of grade. Time Allotment: Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday. No routine weekend or holiday assignments will be made. As a rule of thumb 10 minutes per grade level will be assigned. For example: at 5th grade, 10 x 5 = 50 minutes. Differentiation: Homework can vary depending upon the specific needs of students. This may include time, amount and purpose of homework. Long-term projects: Long-term projects are directly related to the curriculum. Such projects require children to use secure skills only. Expectations are clearly defined and timelines are established and published.

  7. 7. Student success and attendance are directly correlated. Work is completed upon return from vacation-Mill Creek policy After two days of illness work may be picked up at office. CB Policy-5 excused vacation days. If possible, please arrange doctor’s visits after school hours.

  8. 6. Communication is important. Ask your child first. Call if you have a concern about progress, behavior, or peer issues. E-mail is great for quick notes, short answers, schedule change.   9. 5. Mr. Mole believes in teaching life skills like organization, persistence and independence. Students will receive at least 2-3 days advance notice of upcoming tests. Quizzes may be unannounced. Study guides may be provided as needed for unit and chapter tests, but they will be general in nature. They are intended to guide and focus the studying process, not replicate the actual test. Quia On-line resources Do NOT bring in forgotten items. Set high standards
