  5. 2018 Campaign At Anglo AmericanWe are all Safety Leaders This year we are focusing on what we can all do to be the best possible safety leaders, and how this will help us become – and stay – fatality-free. The day itself is on Monday, 29 October, and marks the half-way point for the series of activities that will take place across the business into January 2019. 29 October 2018 – Global Safety Day

  6. Our Objectives for 2018 During this journey, we will be asking questions like: What does safety leadership mean? What does it look like in practice? How do I measure up when it comes to living it every day? How can I support myself, and my colleagues, to master safety leadership? How to apply Safety Leadership while dealing with competing demands and distractions?

ACTIVATION 1 Defining and reflecting July 2018 - End Aug 2018 What it’s about A team session that sets out what safety leadership means for us as a business, as individuals and as teams, and explains why it’s crucial to us becoming – and staying – fatality-free. We’ll be exploring the practices that underpin good safety leadership, helping generate enthusiasm about becoming the best safety leader we can be.   11. Activation 1 headlines Of those areas who have provided feedback: Average participation ranged from 80-85% On average, most people (>75%) found the Activation ‘highly valuable’ while (<25%) found it ‘quite or fairly valuable’ As expected, sites found it more valuable than offices

ACTIVATION 2 Evaluating Sept 2018 - Late Oct 2018 What it’s about A team session to reveal what drives our individual safety leadership, and how these drivers can be tapped into to help us master and strengthen that in practice. The result? We will be able to support ourselves and others to become the best safety leaders we can be.   16. GLOBAL SAFETY DAY Recognising Monday, 29 October 2018 What it’s about A dedicated local event to reflect on and celebrate our safety leadership journey so far. As well as providing the opportunity to acknowledge team and individual achievements, these energising events will also enable us to identify and commit to the next actions we need to take to master safety leadership. In addition to the Group film, we will be producing posters for use on 29 October and a set of safety leadership conversation starter cards. supporting resources Conversation starter cards: There are a set of 24 cards with a series of questions/prompts to help people share what they have learned about and have being doing to improve their personal safety leadership. Printing format is A4 then cut to size. AVAILABLE NOW! Posters: There will be a Group set (featuring some of the Group Film volunteers) as well as templates that you can adapt using local images and stories. AVAILABLE NOW! NB Above are design concepts at this stage

  20. ACTIVATION 4 Displaying Mid Nov 2018 - Mid Jan 2019 What it’s about Being a safety leader is not something that can be turned on and off – it’s a mindset, and forms part of who we are. This team session will reinforce the practices we have learned and help us to continue to apply them, both in and out of the workplace.   21. ACTIVATION 5 Committing Mid Jan 2019 onwards What it’s about A team discussion to reflect on, review and recognise progress. We will reinforce ongoing commitment to our safety leadership practices, as well as exploring how to incorporate them into our personal safety objectives. Lessons Learned • Sustain employee engagement with Campaign • Solicit input from multiple stakeholders on theme • Design campaigns to engage the whole workforce • Include employee enrichment activities • Use HiPo to Project Manage campaign • Engage experts to help scope and design campaign • Establish a network of “Focal Points” to mobilize the campaign • You can’t be too ambitious • Have FUN!
