  13. Justice technology In today’s ever-changing world law enforcement has become more important than ever. Technological advances continue to improve our ability to protect valuable information and analyze evidence; but keeping abreast of the available technology is a challenge that law enforcement faces. Crimes are not committed in the same realm as they were twenty years ago, nor are they investigated with all of the same techniques. Computers & advanced technology have added a whole new dimension to law enforcement. Careers in the fields of security and law enforcement have risen in the past two years and as our security continues to be threatened, the need will continue to rise. Government agencies, security firms, police agencies and corporations have and will continue to have the need for well-trained individuals who have the ability to approach security enforcement, investigation and forensics on all levels. The Justice Technology Program helps to achieve exactly that. The major focus is on building the abilities and skills necessary for modern justice technology with a specific focus on evidence and computer forensics. Students in this program receive hands-on training to familiarize them with the tools, techniques and management issues faced in the new age of law enforcement. Computer and evidence forensics courses cover computer virus issues and prevention, how to retrieve information from a computer system to assist in solving crimes, courses also cover the various techniques used to collect and analyze evidence. Students in this program receive preparation for ACT 235* with classroom instruction and time at a shooting range. Students in this program receive a laptop computer and an evidence kit** which are utilized in the classroom. Graduates of this program will receive a diploma in Justice Technology. Home
