  2. God has given us “all things that pertain to life and godliness…” (2 Peter 1:3) • Let those words sink deeply into your mind and consider the implications of that statement. God has provided to us ALL THINGS we need for this life, which means that we are not lacking anything necessary for this life. • Have you found yourself “stuck?” God’s Word has the answers!

God’s Word Provides Everything We Need for this Life 16All Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV) • Teaching – What is right • Reproof – Where I’m wrong • Correction – How to Get Right • Instruction—How to Stay Right

God’s Word Provides Everything We Need for this Life as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:3, 19-21

God’s Word is perfectly matched for the human condition • Cuts to the heart of every man • Hebrews 4:12-13, For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. • And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

God’s Word keeps you from sin • God’s Word transforms your thinking • Psalm 19:7–8 (NKJV) • 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; • 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

By taking heed according to Your word. 10With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! 11Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

God’s Word has EVERYTHING we need for this life. • When you find yourself “stuck” where do you turn? • Is Dr. Phil your “go to” guy when your kids are out of control? • Maybe you find yourself drawn to the self-help section of the local bookstore hope to find a “fix” for your latest jam. • Do you find yourself looking to find an escape from your problems in medications, relationships or hobbies? • God created you and as your creator He knows you completely and intimately and He has graciously extended to you everything you need for this life through His word and a relationship with Him.

  15. God’s Word has EVERYTHING we need for this life. MY CHALLENGE TO YOU TODAY: • MAKE A DECISION TO READ THE BIBLE REGULARLY • MAKE A GOAL OF WHAT YOU WILL READ THIS YEAR: • WHOLE BIBLE IN A YEAR • NEW TESTAMENT • GOSPELS • PSALMS • PROVERBS • SHARE THAT GOAL WITH 2 OTHER PEOPLE
