  2. Welcome to Jekyll Island • The following pictures were taken of the competition location, to give everyone an overview. After coming onto Jekyll Island, the teams will pull into the main parking lot of the convention center. The driveway is directly in front of the stop sign at the intersection of Ben Fortson Parkway (the causeway) and Beachview Drive. The teams will enter Beachside Hall to check in.

  3. Entrance to Beachside Hall This is the parking lot where the teams will come in to check in. The entrance doors are underneath the green canopy to the right side of the picture.

  4. The Registration Area Teams will come check in inside Beachside Hall. We will have a room that is designated for the cooks meeting/judges training/team breakfast as well as the judging room and a GBA staff room. We also will have a room for people to get out of the sun and heat if needed.

  5. Registration Area • I will also have tables set up in this area that will allow for some climate controlled vendor areas. For example: The BBQ and Chili Times (for distributing copies, soliciting subscriptions), The GBA (for soliciting membership), The Hambone Jam (for advertising the State Championship), etc.

  6. The Judges Chambers One room will be designated as the judging room, one room will be the VIP room, one room will be a cool down room to escape the heat, and the other room will be a GBA staff room, where the judging tabulation will be done.

  7. Inside View of Judging Room The judging room will have tables set up for the judges. This is just an example of the rooms.

  8. GBA Staff Room I have a room designated for the GBA staff. This may be used for a board meeting or other staff functions of the GBA. The room will also be used for tabulating scores.

  9. Friday Night • The main feature on Friday night will be the concert held in Atlantic Hall. This hall is adjacent to Beachside Hall. The featured act for Friday night is the Swinging Medallions. • There will be a DJ playing music outside for the cooking teams. He will be available from 9 p.m. until 12 midnite.

  10. Saturday on the beach • On Saturday, there will be a stage set up on the beach and two bands will play from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. The bands are the Fantastic Shakers and Second Chance. There will be a VIP tent area located on the beach deck. There will be portable potties, ATM machines, and a beer vendor on sight.

  11. Saturday Night • The second concert in Atlantic Hall will feature Jim Quick and the Coastline Band. All cooking teams will receive four (4) free tickets to this event. If additional tickets are needed, please contact me in advance so that I can get them. These additional tickets will be purchased at a reduced rate.

  12. The Competition Area • The competition area is located just outside of Beachside Hall between the convention center and the Beach Deck. If you want sand in your shorts or your smoker, you won’t have far to go. There will be electricity available from two large generators that will be brought in. There is limited water access at this point. I am looking for another option.

  13. Just past the dunes are the Atlantic Ocean Like I said, as close to getting sand in your shorts and your smoker as you can be. If you look closely, you can see the Atlantic in the background. This was taken about center of the competition area.

  14. DJ area DJ will be set up between the group of trees. On the left side between the small group of trees and the large group of trees will be one of the power generators. In the distance is the beach deck where the beer vendor will be along with the ATM machines.

  15. View of Competition Area This is just another view of the competition area. There is still plenty of room behind me towards the beach deck and parking lot.

  16. Competition Area This is taken to the right side of where the DJ will be set up. This faces back towards Beachview Drive. The parking lot will be restricted access for Georgia State Patrol personnel and volunteers of Beach Music Fest.

  17. Competition Area The triple doors lead into Beachside Hall where turn in will take place. Inside those doors will be the cool down room, where people can get away from the sun and heat.

  18. Vending • Vending opportunities will be allowed and are encouraged. Near the beach deck there will be a few food/drink vendors. There will be the usual hamburger/hotdog and snow cone vendors. This event usually attracts 3,000-5,000 people. There are no vending restrictions due to this being state property. Just like the Hambone Jam, we will have teams fill out a form to keep on file.

  19. Schedule • I will be on location early Friday morning so that anyone coming in early to set up and possibly start cooking to vend for Friday night may do so (with GBA approval). It is my understanding that the Friday night concert starts around 8 p.m. and that people start showing up as early as 5 p.m.

  20. Website • All of the forms are available here on Bluelinebbq.com. If anybody has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kevin Sparks (912)223-9725 or bluelinebbq2@gmail.com
