  2. Jonah & His Duty His duty was clear: Go to Nineveh & Cry Out Against Jonah 1:2 "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me."

  3. Jonah & His Duty His duty was not agreeable. Jonah 1:3 But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD… After the Ninevites repented: Jonah 4:1 …it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry.

  4. Jonah: Called to Go to Nineveh; Fled for Tarshish (Spain?) Nineveh  Joppa  Tarshish

  5. The Christian & His Duty Our duties are clear. Like Jonah, our duty is to go into the world and preach to the wicked to turn from their ways. Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

  6. The Christian & His Duty Our duties are clear. Like Jonah, our duty is to go into the world and preach to the wicked to turn from their ways. Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness…

  7. The Christian & His Duty Our duties are clear. Like Jonah, our duty is to go into the world and preach to the wicked to turn from their ways. Titus 1:9-11 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. 10 For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain.

  8. The Christian & His Duty Our duties are clear. Like Jonah, our duty is to go into the world and preach to the wicked to turn from their ways. Titus 3:10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,

  9. The Christian & His Duty Like Jonah, our message might be uncomfortable to say: Acts 17:22-23 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 "for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: Acts 17:30 "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,

  10. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to love: John 15:17 "These things I command you, that you love one another. Luke 6:27 "But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

  11. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to worship: John 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

  12. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to worship: 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."

  13. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to worship: Hebrews 10:25-26 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

  14. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to grow & develop: 2 Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

  15. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to grow & develop: Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

  16. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to grow & develop: 2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  19. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to be benevolent: 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

  20. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to be benevolent: 1 Timothy 5:16 If any believing man or woman has widows, let them relieve them, and do not let the church be burdened, that it may relieve those who are really widows.

  21. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to comfort & edify one another: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

  22. The Christian & His Duty The Christian has a clear duty to comfort & edify one another: 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.

  23. The Truth About Duty Duty is Inescapable Duty is Non-Transferrable Duty is Revealing: John 6:66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

  24. Let’s Make Certain to Fulfill All Our Responsibilities! Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all.
