  24. Evolution of our offer Multiple Building Management Systems available (Andover Continuum, TAC Vista, TAC I/A Series, etc). Each System consists of software and its own field controllers (Example Andover Continuum had BACnet b3 and Infinet controllers) Used a single name to refer to the entire system – Hardware, software, engineering services. Introduction of StruxureWare for Buildings, 1.0 positioned as our next generation intelligent Building Management System. Consisted of software, new hardware (Automation Server) and used compatible hardware from existing systems (b3, Xenta) Designed to be an integration platform with native open protocols. Corporate introduction of StruxureWare as the range name for all Schneider Electric enterprise level software. Changed our system name to StruxureWare Building Operation v1.1 to fit the new Corporate naming convention. Used the name StruxureWare Building Operation to refer to the entire offer. Firm directive from Schneider Electric that the name StruxureWare can ONLY be applied to software. StruxureWare Building Operation v1.2 will only refer to the software portion of what we offer our customers. The entire offer (software, hardware, engineering and a consultative sales approach) is a Level 2 solution, which is referred to as a SmartStruxure Solution Prior to 2010 2010 2011 2012

  31. A SmartStruxure solution requires value-added engineering from Schneider Electric and/or our partners. A SmartStruxure architecture is tested, validated, and supported. A SmartStruxure solution may include integration with other Schneider Electric offers or third party providers. A SmartStruxure solution is a subset of the larger EcoStruxure solution SmartStruxure Solutions Defined • Integrated SmartStruxure solutions are only offered by the Buildings BU • A SmartStruxure solution is powered by StruxureWare Building Operation (or Building Expert) software. • SmartStruxure architecture combines supervision and devices for application control. • A SmartStruxure solution is the result of a consultative sales approach. SmartStruxure is NOT a noun – it should never be used by itself, it is always a modifier for either solution or architecture (a pictorial depiction of the solution)

  32. SmartStruxure Solution Defined: Customer Message A SmartStruxure integrated solution maximizes energy efficiency A SmartStruxure Solution includes ... Software Hardware Engineering Installation … thatmake buildings… smarter efficient livable Services Increased insight into and management of building energy usage Increased building energy efficiency, reduced energy consumption & costs Visualization & control systems promote occupant engagement in reducing energy usage

  33. StruxureWare software has 3 Levels and 7 Functions Enterprise “I Conserve our enterprise resources” Sustainability Resource Planning Operations “I Optimizeour operations and assets” Asset Management Energy Management Business Operation Control “I Control our facilities processes” Security Power availability Business Process You can drive business performance while conserving enterprise resources You can drive network stability, integrate renewables, and manage the energy grid efficiently

  35. Software Suites - Future plans • In the future multiple applications will be combined to create suites of software that are targeted at vertical markets. • Vertical markets are the ones that Building currently focus on - Healthcare, Retail, Education… • Customers can purchase the suites or the individual applications • Example – you can buy Microsoft Office or just Microsoft Excel • These suites will be predefined, pre-tested and documented for interoperability and functionality. • They will come from corporate – not from the regions/countries • The timeframe for delivery of the first suites is probably 9-18 months. • StruxureWare for Buildings software suite will not be pursued. It is too broad – it is replaced by the vertical markets will be addressed.

  36. SmartStruxure Solution Web Services

  37. Web Services • Wikipedia: A Web service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over the web (internet). • W3C: A “web service" as "a software system designed to support interoperable machine-to-machine interaction over a network". • Based on open standards such as HTTP and XML-based protocols –e.g. SOAP, REST • Web services are hardware, programming language, and operating system independent • Applications written in different programming languages and running on different platforms can seamlessly exchange data over intranet or the Internet using web services 37

  38. Web Services • Allows different systems to integrate • All systems must support web services: serve and/or consume • Thus not suitable to replace all current BMS integrations due to protocol: media (serial), performance, legacy – e.g. fire panel Internet Supports Web Services Supports Web Services Supports Web Services Supports Web Services SmartStruxure Solution 38

  39. Benefits of Web Services • Opens systems to exchange data beyond industry-specific protocols • Moving towards service oriented architecture (SOA) • IT-friendly • Flexibility • Because web services use IT standards-based communications methods, integration is platform independent • Cost savings from developing based on standards and re-usability of code for other integrations • Web services commonly used for: • Integration with Peer Systems • Real Time: Values and Active Alarms • Integration with Host Systems • Historical Data: Reporting and Analytics • Moving from: • communication between field-bus and plant room (using BACnet, Lon, Modbus) • To: • communication between plant room and IT (using Web Services) 39

  40. Definition of terms • From the perspective of SmartStruxure Solution: • Serve: Provide data out to other systems • By means of EWS serve • Consume: Take in data from other systems for use within the iBMS system • By means of EWS consume • By means of Generic Consume Serve Consume 40

  41. SmartStruxure Solution • Web Services available in SmartStruxure solution v1.2 • Available on both the Automation Server and the Enterprise Server • Generic Consume • General web services implementation to “consume” data into StruxureWare • Connect to both SOAP and REST web services • Ideal when integrating to third party systems with a pre-existing web service interface • EcoStruxure Web Services (EWS): Serve & Consume • Support “serving” and/or “consuming” data from other Schneider Electric products & systems – e.g. ISX Central, ION Enterprise • EWS offers web services functionality beyond what is capable via Generic Consume approach Web Services Generic Consume EcoStruxure Web Services 41

  42. Generic consume: Binding Tool • Consume "simple" values • Well suited for simple web services with predictable format such as • Weather • RSS feeds • Connect to both SOAP and POX/REST web services • Easy to configure, widely accessible to channel personnel 42

  43. Generic consume: Script programming • Suitable for processing complicated web service • Varying in content • Results require parsing • Use script string parsing keywords for complex results • Search, mid, left, right • Consume SOAP and REST data into Script variables 43

  44. Generic consume use case examples • Weather services • Pass in zip code (or lat/long), return temperature, humidity and Barometric pressure • Forecast • Return cost per energy unit from utility company • Used for demand balancing • Integration tool • Data exchange with third party product • Notification • Email • Text message • Other • Sunrise/sunset by latitude/longitude coordinates 44
