  4. The architect decided to clad this urban-scale sculpture with titanium plating, used with galvanized steel and lined with tar paper. The thickness of the titanium plates was just 16/1000 inch.

  5. To help the problem of being lifted by the wind , the 66 tons of metal was shaped using a special lamination process in order to form 33,000 metal scales.

  6. For the stone parts ,nearly 33,000 square yards of amber beige stone were quarried at Huascar in the region of Granada. The slabs are 2 inches thick and were polished after they were laid.

  7. Design : Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry. Construction: 1993-1997. Dimensions: Total area is 265,008 square feet. Use: Museum, Administrative offices and a Aquatic garden.

  8. Frank Gehry One The most famous building designed by Frank is the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain, described by Time Magazine as "The Building of the Century". Frank Gehry (1929-) was born in Toronto, Canada and has become a naturalized American citizen. The architect has won the most prestigious architecture & design awards incl. Pritzker Architecture Prize (1989) American Institute of Architects Gold Medal (1999) and the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal (2000).

  9. The Cost! It totaled $228.3 million. This includes $12.1 million for architect Frank Gehry, $6.4 million for executive architect Idom, $100.8 million to construct the building and surroundings, $24.7 million to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York, $9.9 million for the land, $44.5 million to establish the collection and $30.3 million for other operative costs before opening

  11. Puppy, a giant dog made of flowers, guards the entrance to the museum. Puppy blooms in both winter and summer, giving visitors to the museum a warm welcome year round.
