  11. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Mechanical

  12. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION This is an exploded view of the Ilumina with the covers and base assembly removed leaving the main print mechanism in the center of the slide.

  13. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Access to the High Voltage Power supply is available by a cover that is situated directly beneath the Belt Assy.

  14. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Low Voltage Power Supply Easy access to the Low Voltage Power Supply . This board is responsible for supplying 5V, 12V, and 34V to the rest of the printer.

  15. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Power Switch Linkage Due to the positioning of the Low Voltage Power Supply, a linkage is used between the ON/OFF switch and the actual switch. Note: It will be important for service technicians to pay special attention to this if replacing the Low Voltage Power Supply.

  16. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Feed Mechanism The three rollers (Pickup, Feed and Retard) are all unique

  17. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Multi Purpose Tray The Multi purpose tray uses the same Hopping and Registration Motors as Tray 1. Easy access to the feed and retard rollers for cleaning and replacement.

  18. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Image Drum Motors The Image Drum Motors are individual motors. The image at the bottom shows the view if the covers and boards are removed from the rear of the machine.

  19. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Fuser Motor The fuser unit, along with the exit rollers, is driven by a single DC motor. The motor will reverse in order to rotate the cam and release the rollers.

  27. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION CU BOARD

  28. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Fuser Mod Board

  29. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Consumables

  30. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION ImageDrum Drum Protection Cover A drum protection cover has been added in order to prevent damage to the drum as well as avoid light exposure. The bottom cover is only open when the drum is in position for printing. The top cover is moved out of the way as the top cover of the printer is closed and the LED heads are moved into position.

  31. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Charge Roller Key Release In order to further preserve the drum during shipment, an orange key release is inserted between the drum surface and the shaft of the Charge Roller.

  32. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION The different electrical contacts on the drum unit

  33. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Drum Life Messages After opening and closing the cover to print an additional 1000 pages and use up remaining toner in the drum, printing cannot resume until the drum is replaced.

  34. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Toner Cartridge The toner supply mouth was reduced to help prevent toner leakage as well as clumping. The toner lockouts have been added to help prevent installation of the toner cartridge in the wrong drum.

  35. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Toner Detection All toner detection takes place inside the Image Drum.

  36. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION RFID TAG The RFID TAG will serve several purposes: • If no Toner Cartridge is installed the op panel will display: %COLOR% Toner not installed This condition will not prevent printing however it will stop every 50 pages. • If the Toner Cartridge is installed and no RFID is detected the op panel will display: %COLOR% Toner Not Installed This condition will stop printing. Once a toner cartridge is empty the RFID TAG will record this state and that toner cartridge will not be able to be reused even if it is refilled.

  37. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Toner Life Messages When the display indicates the toner is empty, cover open/close will allow 50 more pages to print.

  38. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Heavy Stock Fuser

  39. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION FUSER 1.Warm-up time has been reduced by the addition of two lamps in the upper roller and by reducing the diameter of the lower roller. 2. Pressure 3. Processing time – This is related to the addition of a fuser belt and pressure pad. By increasing the NIP width with the belt and pad, the processing time, or the time the toner and media actually spend in the fuser, is increased. NIP Width – A space in which heat and pressure are applied to the toner and media.

  40. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Fuser Life Messages The fuser counts one print as a 13 inch page and one print for anything over 13 inches. For example: • If one 17 inch page is printed, the fuser will count once for the first 13 inches and once for the remaining 4 inches. That’s 2 prints for a 17 inch page. If the page was 26 inches long it would still be only 2 prints. Note: It is unclear at this point how many times the cover can be opened and closed to get the extra 500 prints.

  41. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Transfer Belt

  42. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION

  43. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Waste Toner Box and Conveyance Any waste toner removed from the drum surface is augured through a waste toner conveyance mechanism. This process adds a consumable to the printer but reduces the cost of toner cartridges.

  44. ILUMINA 502 PRODUCT PRESENTATION Waste Toner Box Messages The printer will stop after the cover has been opened and closed 4 times
