  6. Standard  Scientific • Move the decimal to get a number between 1 and 10. • Set up scientific notation. • Remember!! When written in scientific notation, a number smaller than 1 will have a negative exponent and a number larger than 1 will have a positive exponent.

  7. Application Suppose you have a million dollars in pennies. A penny is 1.55 mm thick. How tall would a stack of all your pennies be? Write the answer in scientific notation.
