THEME and SYMBOL. (Okay, but what does it really mean?). Theme: the message or meaning behind a literary work. It must be stated as a FULL SENTENCE. For example: Good triumphs over evil (Harry Potter). Simple, everyday people can be heroes (The Hobbit).
