  2. Homes The Hupa lived in the coastal mountain ranges. Their houses were made of wood or cedar planks. Their house is rectangular shaped. They had a small fireplace in the middle.

  3. Natural Resources Indians ate salmon in the spring and acorns in fall. They hunted elk and deer and other foods in their area. They wore moccasins from elk skin. In the summer they wore deer skin aprons and in the winter they wore animal skin robes. They used baskets, wooden paddles to stir mush, and they used lots of other tools.

  4. Economy They traded animal teeth, hides and wood pecker scalps. They also wove baskets. They traded for salt. They used tools for wooden paddles.

  5. Customs/Traditions They celebrated the New Year and also celebrated the harvest. The Hupa did the white deer dance for 10 days performed by men only.

  6. About the Author About Will and Isaiah. Isaiah loves sports. He plays football, basketball, baseball, and track. He is 9 years old. Will loves sports. He likes soccer, baseball, basketball, and sometimes football. He is also 9 years old.
