  2. ukcommunity@barclays.com MISSION STATEMENT CRC CIC uses the recycling of electronic and electrical equipment as a vehicle for the training and employment of people with mental health issues or physical disabilities who might, otherwise, not have an opportunity to access adult training courses or employment.

  3. Since opening in june 2013: 1,107 service users 2,327 collections Recycled items over 5 years: 53,811

  4. In nearly five years of business, we have offered work experience and apprenticeships to 91 local people that experience various forms/degrees of mental health. With support and guidance, 81 of these have moved on to adult education or sustainable employment. That is a remarkable 89% success rate of which we are extremely proud. Some have embraced the confidence and skills that we have nurtured and gone on to start up their own small businesses - a great achievement for those who would not even speak when first joining us! Two of our most recent successes are Adam  and Judah. Adam is one of our drivers and can be seen on the Guardian video.  He  has been with us for nearly three years and speaks openly about his mental health issues and “fitting in” with society.  We are delighted that he has developed the confidence to make himself  known as a budding author and wish him the best with all further writing.                                                                                                                                His novel,   Inherent Strain, by  A M Nixon,  is available as paperback or Kindle edition from https://www.amazon.com/kindle-dbs/entity/author/B077CGW3JW?_encoding=UTF8&node=283155&offset=0&pageSize=12&sort=author-pages-popularity-rank&page=1#formatSelectorHeader Judah also appears in the film and, again, talks about his problems with  depression and how we have helped to develop his confidence.  It is our loss that he left us to take up full time employment elsewhere in October 2018.  We are very sorry to have lost him but our whole ethos is to build up confidence and send our recruits into the world of work. He keeps in touch and is very happy and successful in his work. Read what some of our supporters say:

  5. Community Recycling Consortium (CRC) is licensed by the Environment Agency (03708 506 50)to collect, store, dismantle and refurbish electrical and electronic equipment. Environment Agency T11 Exemption Ref: NC1/060888/2017 Lower tier waste carrier Registration number CBDL42969 The Information Commissioner’s Office (our Registration : ZA297079 Tel: 0303 123 1113 www.ico.org.uk) has confirmed that new GDPR Legislation from May 2018 does not require additional certification as we DO NOT HANDLE CLIENT DATA – HDDs are disposed of. As part of its community focus CRCcollects redundant computers, laptops, tablets, ipads, servers (free of charge)and other electronic goods from schools, colleges and businesses. These ‘end of life’ products are taken to the workshop where they are examined to establish if they can be given an extended life or if they are past economically viable repair.

  6. HOW DO YOU START THE RECYCLING PROCESS? 1. You can call Steve on 01782 756756 to request a collection. 2. If you have not already received a “collection document”, you will have one emailed to you. 3. Fill in the number of items for recycling and return by email to info@crccic.co.uk Steve will then contact you to arrange a convenient collection date and time. Our driver will arrive with two “waste transfer notes” that have been completed with the information that you provided. You and our driver sign both copies. Shortly afterwards you will receive a disposal log with all serial numbers from the collected items. When hard drives have been removed and disposed of, you will also receive a certificate of HDD destruction. The Information Commissioner’s Office (our Reg: ZA297079 Tel: 0303 123 1113 www.ico.org.uk) has confirmed that new Legislation from May 2018 does not require additional certification as we DO NOT HANDLE CLIENT DATA – WE ONLY DESTROY HDDs.

  7. Collection day. Our driver will bring two completed copies of this “waste transfer note” You keep one copy for your records.

  8. Following collection, you will be emailed a log sheet of all equipment disposed of

  9. If an item is no longer usable the staff at the workshop will break each item down into its component parts (boards, steel, aluminium, power supplies, etc) which are recycled through recognised channels, or held in stock to facilitate repairs to other donated items. If an item can be given an extended life, it is offered for sale to the general public or community groups at a realistic price, with a guarantee that once it has reached the end of its working life it can be returned to CRC for treatment. Opening and taking apart HDDs expose the platters to normal air , which contaminate the drive, and render it useless. Hard drives are manufactured in a clean room where even a smoke particle will cause a head crash.

  10. Recycling Consortium CIC Community Recycling Consortium CIC Certificate of HDD disposal Some days later, you will be emailed this certificate confirming the destruction of all hard drives.
