  1. Video-Based Learning Solutions & its Benefits

  2. What is Video based learning solution? L&D teams need to continuously raise the bar for trainings by providing engaging and interactive learning experiences. In this article, I show you the benefits and examples of video-based learning solutions in corporate training. Benefits And Examples Of Video-Based Learning • Videos are a highly effective tool to use in eLearning. They not only reduce cognitive load but also grab viewer attention and increase learner engagement. There are various reasons as to why eLearning videos make for a powerful learning experience for digital learners. • They compel consumption and improve retention levels. If given the choice of reading a 5000-word lecture transcript versus watching an 8-minute animated video illustrating the lecture’s central idea, learners would definitely choose the latter as the preferred learning tool. • More significantly, the power of video as an eLearning tool lies in the fact that they are a cross-generational resource. From Gen C to boomers, to Gen X, Y, and Z, workplaces across the generational divide can gain benefits from the application of eLearning videos.

  3. Why Video Based Learning? • It simulates as a visual and a practical demonstration aid. • The visual learning aids, helps the learner enhance understanding and makes the learner feel connected to the video content analysis. • Interactive communication and graphics is the key to visual learning programs. • Enhances motivation levels and keeps them up. • Keeps trainees engaged throughout a training session. • Cost effective - reduces your cost of delivery and overcomes the need for centralized location-based training. • These videos can be used as stand-alone learning programs or as a part of the ILT programs in a blended learning approach.

  4. How to implement video-based learning? • Keep content short • Choose relevant topics • Make it engaging • Make it interactive • Optimize it for various devices

  5. Emerging Trends in Video-Based Learning a) Microlearning Videos Microlearning videos include short videos addressing the main concept. Such videos are shorter, approximately 30-60 seconds, and give brief information about a concept. Therefore, learners do not have to sit for long hours and cram unnecessary information in the name of learning. Moreover, microlearning videos are target-specific and prove to be an effective training method. b) Interactive Learner Experience Interactive learning is a way of engaging learners in the lesson/course. This promotes better learning and retention. This trend emerges with the acknowledgment of the fact that learners cannot remember everything included in a lesson/course. Also, long hours of learning are usually boring. Thus, making a lesson/course interactive is necessary. Some methods to make an interactive lesson/course include gamification, inserting annotations, quizzes, and more. c) Video-Based Branching Narratives Video based learning solutions branching narratives focus on building a story. Learners decide how the story unfolds by perceiving its negative and positive consequences. As a result, this video-based learning trend provides a multitude of choices and interactive points for better learning.
