  2. The Wii Fit will use a balance board accessory, and will promote exercise and healthy living. It will feature a handful of mini games designed specifically with full body motion control in mind

History • Revealed during a conference in September 2006 by game designer Shigeru Miyamoto • Said that it was influenced by his daily life and was a way to “help families exercise together • It took over 2 years to perfect Wii balance board, which was inspired by sumo wrestlers needing to weigh themselves with two scales

  4. Game play • The Wii uses a unique platform peripheral (pressure sensitive) balance board • It is capable of measuring the user’s weight, center of gravity, and calculate their body mass index when told user’s height

  5. Game play continued… • It has about 40 different activities • It also allows its players to compare their fitness using Wii Fit’s own channel on the Wii Menu • It tracks user’s “Wii Fitness Age”

Other Stuff • Released in Japan December 1, 2007-sold over quarter million copies in first week • Release in Europe 4/25/08, Australia 5/8/08, and in United Stated 5/19/08 • It is an example of exergaming, and is compared to Dance Dance Revolution • Future Integrations: service to keep in contact with doctor to help with rehabilitation, or with fitness specialist to help with training exercises

  12. Limitations • Most exercises focus on core workout • Must buy Wii game system for around $250, and additionally purchase Wii Fit for around $70
