These companies rely on word of mouth and other tactics to boost their brand. Let’s look at a few of those companies and find out how that’s working out for them.

  2. Zara: This fashion brand has become a success without the help of marketing. They have built an empire based on their ability to analyze trends and consumer feedback. Zara targets men, women and children in big cities with their selection of affordable, high fashion items which they make available in limited editions to create a sense of urgency. They are also big on Influencer marketing as one of their finer moments included when the Duchess of Cambridge wore one of their dresses the day after her wedding to Prince William. Krispy Kreme: Everyone is familiar with this donut brand yet, if you look behind the brand, you will notice there is very little marketing supporting it. Rather, the brand relies on strong in store support with each worker providing excellent customer service. They also invest in unique, highly visible locations that have large windows that allows passers-by to see donut making firsthand.

  3. Sriracha: This spicy Asian sauce is becoming one most won’t live without, yet if you look on social media, you will see there is very little marketing backing the product. CEO David Tran has long believed that it was more important to spend money on making a high-quality product as opposed to marketing. The company also relies on Influencers and distributed its product to Asian chefs before making it available to the masses. Many sung its praises which helped the sauce to increase in popularity.

  4. Trader Joe’s: Trader Joe’s is another company remarkably devoid of any sort of social media presence. Rather than spend money on their marketing, they put it back into their store to make affordable and tasty healthy food. This, on top of offering delectable in store samples, a unique atmosphere and eliminating unpopular items regularly has all contributed to the company’s success. Of course, no company is completely without marketing techniques.
