The RE:FIT approach Summary Identify buildings to retrofit, set a target energy saving and payback period % Savings Run a mini competition to select an Energy Service Company (ESCo) to carry out the works and guarantee energy savings Payback of the investment is guaranteed with the delivery risk transferred to the ESCo Payback Period Maximum Investment RE:FIT allows public bodies to make substantial cost savings, reduce energy bills and the carbon footprint of their buildings

The Programme Delivery Unit • Manages the RE:FIT framework of suppliers • Facilitates the uptake by London-based public sector organisations • Supports clients through all programme stages • Uses experience and lessons learnt to develop best practice templates and standards • Funded by ELENA (European Local Energy Assistance Programme) and the GLA • Provided at no cost to London’s public sector organisations

RE:FIT achievements • 73 London organisations are currently engaged with RE:FIT: • 27 London Boroughs • 19 NHS Organisations • 27 others Retrofitting completed/near completion on 136 buildings including: • Universities • Hospitals • Cultural centres • Colleges • Schools • Fire stations • Police buildings • Leisure centres • Civic centres • Office buildings • Community buildings • Libraries £2.16m energy bill savings per annum £15m investment

  10. Financing options for RE:FIT projects • Options include: • Own funding • Borrowing directly: • London Energy Efficiency Fund/Banks/Salix/Public Works Loan Board • Finance through a third party, which could include 'off-balance sheet' options • A mix of the above

Introducing LEEF – an affordable funding solution • You are a public, private or voluntary sector body • Your project is in the Greater London area • Your project contributes to improved energy efficiency through reducing consumption and/or carbon emissions • Your funding requirement is between £1m and £20m • www.leef.co.uk/ enquiries@leef.co.uk You can access loans of up to 10 years and interest rates from 1.65% if:

  13. Benefits of RE:FIT • RE:FIT is a public sector initiative for the UK public sector. • There are no royalty or other costs associated with accessing the RE:FIT Framework, or receiving the energy savings benefits it will bring you.
