The Freshman Learning Experience Objectives Create learning-based peer networks Improve the academic success of first-year students Improve student retention from the freshman to sophomore year Increase student satisfaction with the university Increase student-faculty interaction outside the classroom

The Freshman Learning ExperienceProgrammatic Structure • Students enroll in 2-4 linked courses in Fall Semester • Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, English, or Engineering • Students share a living environment for a common residential experience, if desired • Major Faculty Member “teaches” a 1-credit course • Junior/Senior Major “leads” the 1-credit course • Students participate in out-of-class theme-based activities • Cultural • Interactive (Outdoor Pursuits Challenge Ropes Course)
