  3. AIDIMA´S PRESENTATION

  4. AIDIMA, founded in 1984, is a RTDI private non-profit association. • AIDIMA’S ACTIVITIES: • Research, Technological Development and Innovation. • Quality. • Environment. • Packaging. • Logistics. • Information Technologies. • Training & Human Resources. • Market Research & Business Strategy. • Communication & Knowledge Transfer. • European & International Affairs.

  5. AIDIMA is nota vocational training centre, but a RDTI association. Therefore, it is impossible for us to introduce the proposed pilot scheme of courses for students aged 16-18 years old. • Nevertheless, AIDIMA has a good relationship with vocational training centres providing wood and furniture vocational training, but it is almost impossible for them to change their official plans from the point of view of content delivery. This possibility of being flexible with the syllabus does not exist. • AIDIMA has collaborated with the Ministry of Labour and with the Ministry of Education in these activities related to the educational innovation. • AIDIMA has participate in the development of: • Vocational training professional degrees, • Specific wood and furniture qualifications, • Spanish National System of Qualifications, and • Professional Certificates (courses to obtain the qualification certification).

  6. AIDIMA´S TRAINING AND HUMAN RESOURCES ACTIVITIES

  7. In-company training. • Vocational & post-graduate training. • Training for trainers. • E-training: multimedia training material. • Seminars, workshops, conferences and congresses. • Training needs analysis (for companies and sector) and training plan development. • Assessment in business management and human resources. • European projects. • Innovative education activities.

  8. SPANISH VOCATIONAL EDUCATION (VET) TRAINING

  9. In Spain, we can find two different levels of degrees: • Three different intermediate degrees for students aged +16 years old, but none of them have specific training related to NC. • Two different higher degrees for students aged +18 years old, which are: • “Development of products in carpentry and furniture” • “Wood and furniture production”: • It includes the NC training module. • Its final objective is “programming and managing a numerical automated manufacture”. • It lasts 165 hours. • You can find its module card in the following slide (slide 11).

  10. WOOD AND FURNITURE PRODUCTION DEGREE (ONLY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2011) THIS DEGREE LASTS 2000 HOURS, OF WHICH 165 CORRESPOND TO NC TRAINING

  11. Pictures at the school, with the teacher and the students.

  12. Exercise at the end of the course (assembling process)

  13. Exercise at the end of the course (final product)

  14. The results of the last course were: • Students: 10 • Independent (self-governing the NC machine): 8 (80%) • Dependent (requiring help): 2 (20%)

  15. OTHER CATEGORY: NC COURSES FOR EMPLOYEES AIDIMA OFFER THIS KIND OF NC COURSES THAT LAST 50 HOURS.

  16. Example of this courses given by AIDIMA: Objectives of the course: Managing the basic concepts of programming. Programming any kind of two-dimensional piece in ISO language programming of NC. Managing and knowing the function of different NC models. Machining and taking into account the concepts of metal cutting, fixtures, cutting tools and Health & Safety in this kind of machinery. Contents of this course: Introduction to Numerical Control and ISO language programming system. Programming examples. Representative exercises of mechanized wood pieces. NC milling systems and subsystems, operation and maintenance. NC machine management, zero machine, zero piece and tools calibration. To be capable of manufacturing a piece with a NC machine.

  17. NEW OFFICIAL DEGREE: JOINERY AND FURNITURE TECHNICIAN (FROM SEPTEMBER 2011) THIS DEGREE LASTS 2000 HOURS, OF WHICH 60 CORRESPOND TO NC TRAINING

  18. In addition to this, on the 8th October 2010, the Ministry of Education published a vocational training professional degree in order to replace this one : “Industrial manufacture of carpentry and furniture” • At this very moment, the new degree is called: • “Joinery and furniture technician”: • It is for students aged +16 years old. • It lasts 2.000 hours. • It includes the NC training module of 60 hours. • It has been created in order to meet the furniture sectorial demand, and coinciding with the Woodport project results as it happens. • You can find its module card in the following slide (slide 20).

  19. AIDIMA´S PROPOSAL TO SUSTAINABILITY MODULE

  20. From our point of view, the following proposal is suitable only for students of higher degrees, in connection with their responsibility towards the company. • The idea is not teaching students a specific sustainability module, because every school should have implemented a sustainability system. • In consequence of this implementation, students are aware of the importance of sustainability and in theirlessons at workshops, they will be taught and advised in these areas: • Solid and liquid waste control • Respect for the environment • Occupational hazard prevention • Health and safety • as additional tasks in their jobs (joiners, cabinet markers, upholsterers…)
