About CHSP • Provide students who have an interest in public health with opportunities to compare and contrast different healthcare systems which translates into ideas and implementation of improvements to the Canadian healthcare system • Events/Opportunities: • Taiwan Public Health Exchange (May) • Annual Conference (March) • Lecture Series (continually throughout the semester)

Taiwan Public Health Program • Start of May 2013 for 2-3 weeks • Pre-Departure Visits (Prior to Taiwan Exchange) • Opportunity to learn more about Canadian system • Allows for stronger comparisons while on exchange • Formerly included visits to: • McGill Student Health Services Clinic • Rockland MD (private ambulatory surgical centre) • Douglas Mental Health Institute • Montreal Children’s Hospital

Taiwan Public Health Program • Presentations from experts on: • Epidemic disease control (SARS, H1N1) • Social health policies • Application of innovative technologies • Comparisons of Taiwanese, American, and Canadian system • Public and private care • Traditional Medicine- Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine • Tours • Chang Geng Medical Center • Kai Shuen Hospital • Kao Hsiung Medical Center • Kao Hsiung Ministry of Health Support for McGill Program • Kao Hsiung Medical University • Department of National Health Insurance • Tai Wu Elementary- Aboriginal School • Guo Gong He Hospital

  5. Taiwan Public Health Program • Cost • Flight to Taiwan, food, and personal expenses (~$1500) • $100 program fee • Eligibility • Currently enrolled in McGill • Strong interest in public and global health • Open-minded students able to work well in teams
