  2. Retirement homes are an excellent option for seniors looking for a safe, comfortable, and affordable place to live out their golden years. There are many types of retirement homes to choose from, and this article will explore the most common types. • ©Copyright by Travancorefoundation.com

  3. 1. Independent Living Home • "Independent living" refers to any housing arrangement specifically built for older people, often over 55.  • There are a variety of housing options, from apartments to luxury old age homes to single-family houses. The housing is more suited to the needs of senior citizens since it is more compact, simpler to navigate, and requires less upkeep and yard labour. Most communities provide a variety of facilities, events, and services for their inhabitants, even if they live on their own. • ©Copyright by Travancorefoundation.com

  4. 2. Assisted Living Retirement Communities • A modest amount of care is offered at a retirement community that offers assisted living services. • Seniors may remain in their own homes with the help of this sort of living arrangement (i.e., apartments, condos, or single-family dwellings). However, essential requirements, such as getting dressed, preparing meals, taking medicine, and arranging transportation, are also met for the elderly. • ©Copyright by Travancorefoundation.com

  5. Dementia care or treatment specific to a particular condition may be offered in some communities. • Diabetes and cardiovascular disease are a few of the most common ones. Keep in mind that assisted living facilities don't provide most healthcare services. Healthcare professionals such as dentists, hospice nurses, podiatrists, counsellors, and physical therapists will collaborate with these institutions. • Instead of being forced to move to a nursing home or inpatient facility, people may get specialized care while still living in an assisted living facility. • ©Copyright by Travancorefoundation.com

  6. 3. Residential care home • These institutions cater to a few people and give individualized attention.  • Adult family homes or personal care homes are some of the other names. Those who need more personalized, home-like care might benefit from these facilities. They do their work by giving accommodation, food, and support with everyday tasks (ADLs). • The cost-to-benefit ratio is moderate. Most of the time, they're less expensive than traditional long-term care facilities like nursing homes. • ©Copyright by Travancorefoundation.com

  7. 4. Continuing care retirement community (CCRC) • For those who want to live in a retirement community where they may get the full range of aged care services, CCRCs are the best old age home. • They may be housed on separate floors, in wings, or in neighbouring buildings like garden apartments, cottages, duplexes, and mid-and low-rise structures spread out throughout a campus or in a single high-rise building. • The goal of the CCRC concept is to keep residents from having to move unless there is a change in their health care requirements. • ©Copyright by Travancorefoundation.com
